I did a little survey for Bernat yarns for my choice
of pattern book, but they emailed me and stated
that some of us experienced a "glitch" in their
system, so they're giving us all 4 books to download.
Thought I'd pass them along!

Hey, our little club is growing!!!
What do you gals knit? I just learned to knit with 4 needles...I had to have my BFF sit right next to me and knit a mitten at the same time I was knitting mine...lol...I guess that means I'm a very visual learner!
Have you all been knitting for a long time?

Woohoo! Thanks! I'm in the club too... been knitting since I was 5 and it never gets old
PS If you join the Bernat "club" there's LOTS of free patterns to download and you can sort by category, etc. I've also found this to be the case with some RedHeart and Patons also...Last edited by Zee's Mom; Tue, Jul 6th, 2010 at 11:39 PM. Reason: add info for more free patterns

wow! - I just bought some yarn to knit myself a sweater and by chance I chose Bernat yarn. I used to do a lot of knitting but I find it a bit harder now as I have arthritis in my thumbs. (from sticking them in dykes to long- actually from breaking them skiing and then typing too much)
I love that needle holder, Lynn! What a cutie!

That is an awesome needle holder you've got there, Lynn. Did you make it?
I learned to knit from my mom when I was about 8yrs. old. It's still one of my fondest memories of our times together.

Wow, Ladies....we have quite the little group here now!! That's so great!!
As for the needle-holder,,, I WISH! No...I just found it on line. I keep my needles in one of those hard wine-bottle holders that you give people wine in. I've seen them at Michael's. It works out quite nicely.
My Mom never knitted...she sewed, which is what I do now, too. I cut and sewed our DD a jersey wrap dress on Monday and she said it's her favourite dress ever! I should take a pic of it..! I learned in "home-ec" class in high school, but never knitted for our kids and just picked it up again a few years ago. I love to have something to do in front of the tv instead of snacking! As for arthritis, yeppers, me, too. My hands get really sore after a while but by then I'm usually done for the night.
Here's another site with incredible patterns and the thing I like most about it is that there's a 'gallery' attached to each pattern of items made from that pattern and their reviews! It's amazing how creative some gals are with a pattern and how different they all look even using the same yarns and pattern!
You have to join, but it's free and they never email or spam me.
But I warn you....bring that pot of coffee to your computer because you're going to be on there for a looooong time! Oh. There are patterns you have to pay for, but there's a free section that'll keep you busy for days!
Avon...omg...a sweater? I'm not sure my patience extends to such big projects but I applaud you for it! And you must post a pic when it's finished!!!

Enjoy!

Chives, I've tried circular needles and maybe it's the quality of the ones I can find here, but they've provided me with nothing but frustration. The problem lies where the needles meet the plastic line...there isn't a smooth transition and each time I need to move my stitches, I have to coax them over them. I've purchased from two companies at Michael's and...same problem. They can put a man on the moon (so the story goes), but they can't make a seamless circular needle! Grr.
And thanks again for that scarf pattern! I love that it's reversible, unlike so many...our DD likes plain, simple styles, so I can see that in a nice winter-white yarn...
Hey! Christmas is only 169 sleeps and 15 hours away...get your knittin' going!!
