Was there tears? From you or them?
Oh, close to tears this morning, and she went into grade one, but we didn't know who would be in her class or which teacher, she was still being shy. Now the next one starts on Thursday, my baby is going into jk, that one will be tearful on mommies part.
Oh there will be no tears here from me..LOL but now DS is another story. He has not gone as of yet and he only has to go for 2 hours so lets hope..
My niece (bfs biological niece) starts half days today...so weird I still remember meeting her when she was 6 months...now she is a little lady haha
:lol:............It's the most wonderful time of the year.....:lol:
My 2 went back on the 31st - and hubby and i still keep singing the "Staples" song.
Love my kids but am glad they are back at school(and don't let anyone know but my kids really like school and are glad to be back too!!)
Mind you, ds is in last year of secondary school and about to start a driving course...where did the time go??:shrug:
i had a good morning, took my the child i work for to school [with her mom]. i was there as the official photographer LOL! beautiful morning, with lots of clingy, hyper kids. the one we were with was mellow and calm, all went well. i think the mom and i were more excited then her. the principal even came over and teased her about being so cool and collected.
when i got on the city bus this morning it was full of grumpy teenagers going to highschool. it made me laugh. they ALL had the same look: "oh god, why is this happening?! it's so earrrrllllyyyy!"
too funny.
Thank goodness, the oldest had a great day, she seemed to be very happy and excited when she got home. One down, one to go.
Awwww. That was me last year!! It was so hard. DD was terrified and she cried for weeks before school started and begged us not to make her go, and "why can't I just stay home with you? I just want to stay with you!"
On "the big day," we marched her down the hallway (felt like the green mile for me) and she was so tiny with this big, big backpack and I thought, "omg. omg. Please don't beg to stay with me because I swear to god if you just say that even once, I will scoop you up in my arms and RUN back to the car with you and take you home!"
She gets to the classroom, gives us a hug and a smile and says, "bye! See you this afternoon!" and goes off to make new friends without looking back. :omg:
I had to wear sunglasses so she wouldn't see me cry & I fought to keep it together in the walk back to the car....where I subsequently bawled my face off for 20 minutes. lol.
Her "big day" is tomorrow so we'll see what that brings. So far, she has behaved exactly like last year--cried til it was quite late and looooonng past bedtime tonight. Hope for us both that she can find the courage to be as brave as last year when the moment arrives.
So much anxiety and stress around school; my kids have been all over the map this past week--excited, terrified, happy, sad.
So Littlemoe, plan on having Thursday to yourself if possible--to cope with the reality of the littlest one in school. Me? I went home and baked crap til there was nothing left to bake anymore, just to take my mind off it. lol.
both boys had a great first day of school no tears nothing :) nind you the little was scared a little he just started grade 1 so it was a big change for him no more pens now today i got the tears from the oldest he didn't want to go it's his b day so he tried all of his tricks but i'm proud to say mommy didn't fall for any of it :)
my son started grade 2 yesterday, he wasn't TOO thrilled but as soon as he saw his friends he was running around like a maniac grinning from ear to ear
My 10 year old DS didn't want us at the bus stop, so not cool to have mom there(so I hid on my porch and watched him) But he's so quiet I was sick all morning wondering if he had got on the wrong bus, I had visions of him ending up at the mall :) My DD starts JK tomorrow, where did the time go, pass me some Kleenex!
Tears of joy on my part lol! JK....but seriously it was a long and boring summer for us. DH started a new job so we did not get any holidays.
DD was really excited to start Grade 1 and even happier when she discovered she had her 2 besties in her class!!!
Today is the first full day (9-3) for her....I am anticipating a VERY tired little girl by weeks end :)
Hope you all have a good rest of your week
There were tears today, my baby started today, and was so brave till she walked in the room. I never saw that face on her before, as she cried asking for Mommy. So of course I was crying as well. Hope she makes it thru the day.
My Ds went into 3rd year of HS so rather boring but happy to see his friends. DD started kindergarten, we have full day here. I was surprised that Ontario just started full day. We have had full day for about 12 yeras now. SHe went from never being away from home to being away from home all day. She's fine.
and not all schools are full day either Patty!
Is it full day, every day Patty? Here it's either that, or half-days every day for K.
Here for jk/sk it's full days every other day. They just started a few schools in our area full day every day, I don't think this little one could handle that.
This is my 22nd year of school :). And no I am not a teacher.
As always I am excited. There is something exhilerating with opening up that new pack of paper or using that new pen.
This is hopefully my last year of school for a couple years, so it meant not buying new school supplies and getting to use the good stuff (yes I do buy special pens that I only use for certain things like letter writing). I didn't realize until this year just how many school supplies were in my apartment.
I love opening a new book and hearing the crinkle of the pages.
I did however have to invest in a new computer. 5 years of University has almost killed it.
Full day all day. LOL
My tummy is still in knots today, got that feeling I'm getting a phone call.
No tears allowed for me - had to hold em back. Had to be srtong for DD as she was so excited to start grade 1 today!
If I remember correctly Ontario had full days but they were stopped 10 or so years ago.
I remember I went to kindergarten full day everyday. I actually really enjoyed kindergarten haha
Awwww. *hugs*
That was me for two days in a row. DD#1 started Tuesday and I wandered around the house with DD#2 clinging to my leg and I was thinking, "It's awful quiet here and I don't like that. I hope she's ok!"
Then yesterday, #2 trucks off to school too. I was miserable and tense the whole morning. DH finally says to me "What's wrong with you?" and I said, "It's too darned quiet and I don't know what to do with myself! Gosh. I hope she's doing alright!"
haha. They both had great first days. Came home super excited. It's just an adjustment as much as it is getting used to them being home all summer too.
Our school wasn't one of the ones trying out the "full day, every day kindergarten" this year. I think the Min of Ed chooses which schools participate. Frankly, I'm glad she's not in every day--I found that once DD#1 went to grade 1, I felt like I never saw her anymore except on weekends. So I'm happy to have the time with the littlest.
Zachery started his full day early learning today, still mixed feelings. I think 4 is too young for this. He was excited to go to his big brothers school. (he was in daycare and beststart 2x a week for the past year)
I feel kinda down today, but I just think its the weather and stuff since it fully hasn't sunk in about him in school lol.
