yeah, no way... although I want to keep faith in the human race, it's highly unlikely s/he will pay back. I'm saying thievery is thievery and they deserve criminal charges regardless but it's above and beyond for the victim of this to even extend the offer of rectifying this personally... the person responsible would be even more of a fool not to come forth and deal with this properly. right on about the conscience. at the very least they should absolutely, without question, be banned and I really hope the SC'er this happened to receives every cent and then some of what was stolen from them.

I do think its highly unlikely they will come forward, but facing Sally would be much easier than the police. I would not be as generous as the person who had their points stolen, I would prosecute so the person has a chance to stop something that could potentially chance their life

As for the stealing, that is just sick but SDM should be putting more security measures in place but they assume people only switch between family cards

Well....the Shoppers Optimum Program DOES say that you can't sell or trade points for a reason y'know...

Regardless, I feel sorry for the card holder that lost the points.

As for the one taking the points...well greed is part of the human condition so it's sorta to be expected.

That is truly disgusting. When I first saw this thread I was assuming it was something someone did outside of SC. Thank you Anne for your great advise! I am signing my boyfriend up and he is going to hold all the points!!!

I do not like handing my personal information to strangers. I am not saying that every one is a thief but the one bad guy out of 100 or more people you deal with will be enough to screw you. I remember when I started trading some one wanted to do sdm points and thats where I decided to not to trade as I did not feel comfortable. I think common sense is the bestest friend to humans.

Honestly, it will be a big favour to every one on this forum to report this person to police so other people do not dare to screw again. There is no valid excuse for cheating, lying and stealing. :rant:

To the victim:
I am impressed with your graciousness in offering a chance to someone who harmed you. If this person does not rectify the situation, then I second eriluo's offer to help (e.g. donation of Optimum Points).

I am stunned that someone would do something like that! For everyone involved I sincerly hope it gets worked out somehow.

Sorry, but I have no sympathy for thieves. Let the police handle it. My opinion is: if they steal as an adult they've done it before! It's so easy to trace the redemption on points let alone the video and debit/credit cards possibly involved. And I'm sorry, but being involved with SC and trading points,etc. don't be a fool and think that they're hard done by because they're definitely not IMO.

If the thief cannot be caught in the end, I'll donate my SDM points to the victim. I have less than 10k points though, as I don't shop there too often.

In this world we should help people, not hurt people.

will we all be updated on the situation? Just curious.. I feel terrible that this happened and I hope the person is caught and obviously banned from here as well as all SDMS and charged with theft as well..

A very sad situation! And that's why I never trade for SDM points or give my number to anyone. Some people are very dishonest, especially on the internet where they can plot to take advantage of others.

I want to point out it could of very well been someone she had maybe traded with in the past and they waited until the event to pull a quick one, its not ness from the "tell a friend" event, thats just when it happened.

If it happened during this event---if she has not traded sdm points before would this not only leave 1 of the group leaders as a suspect ?? they are the only ones who get our optimum number ?? how do we donate points ??

I'm also wondering if there will be an update. Did someone come forward? Did the person get their points back from Shoppers?
