I got home late after having dinner with my friend (with the thyroid issues - she's decided to go on sick leave until she has surgery, then take time off after as well). I was crossing the street as I watched my
bus pull away, so had to wait a half hour. Ugh. Then I get home & see the front doors of the condo wide open, people milling about. Apparently, a pipe burst, which meant a flood on the second floor, a flood on the main floor, & a flood in the basement, where my locker is. I don't even want to think about that. Luckily my parents are a tad, er, obsessive & gave me plastic storage tubs for my first couple of xmas presents here, so most of my stuff should be ok. I came up, quickly got the dog leashed & ran out to grab the elevator, but it was gone. We waited & waited & waited for the elevator, cause the dog & I (ok, mostly the dog) wanted to go outside. I finally gave up & walked down 6 flights (I'm ever so grateful I'm not on the top floor at times like these).
Because all the water flooded out of the building, there was water everywhere, which had turned into an ice rink. The best thing I ever taught the dog was "Step", which means take one step forward & stop. Because of my balance issues, I had to put my hand on the poor girl's shoulders while she took a step, then I took a step, etc. When we got back into the building - 3 minute walk turning into almost 30 minutes of slooow steps - we waited & waited for the elevator to come. I finally gave up & decided to walk up the 6 floors. Right now, I'm tired & out of breath, but I know tomorrow & the day after is when the pain is going to hit.
If I wasn't tired before from all my tune ups, I certainly am now. I'm going to bed, although I'm in that too tired to sleep phase.
Hope everyone has a good pain free night.

I'm too tired to sleep, so I came back here. The pain is starting to set in, but I know the worst is yet to come.
Yes, Lily the dog is very good at helping me when she knows I need help. I had eye surgery last year & my depth perception was totally messed up (had emergency surgery to fix the glaucoma caused by surgery to fix bleeding in my right eye which made me literally 1/2 blind), & she became my official guide around the building. Then last summer when I had that nasty flu bug, she had to work like a dog to take care of me, bring me things & pick up everything I dropped.
Quincy the cat is very good at entertaining, but nothing practical for now. He's of the opinion that boys don't do housework.
Will def take a hot steamy shower in the morning. I used to take baths before the critters came to live with me. When the dog was a puppy, she loved to throw her ball into her dish & splash water everywhere. When she got older, she would wait until I was relaxed in the tub & had my eyes closed & whip her hard rubber Kong at my head.
How are you holding up? Don't forget to spend some time taking care of yourself.
My FB was all messed up, so I had to create a new acct. Not sure what info you need to find me, my name there is Andi Tom, email is [email protected]. Anything else you need to track me down? Oh, & you'll def recognize my pic.I tried to hunt some folks down, but I think I'm too tired to concentrate on what I'm doing.
Now, I'm going off to bed for sure.
See you all in the morning.

Having been away, I think I've missed something important! Please, can anyone give me a quick catchup on p&p ... I just read something about it going belly up???
sorry to ask, but with mom's congestive heart failure, me in the city 5 out of 7 days, and poor Tera and I probably taking a walk to rainbow bridge this weekend or next, I just have my hands to full to back track thru the forum pages ...
thanks

kekes: no it' sjust me being paranoid over their latest snag. the revised terms and conditions, which seem the same to me as the previous ones, so i'm not sure what they are doing. sounds like scolding to me. check it out tho. and with the pts being lowered for voting and entering and prizes going up, makes me think they are struggling over there. will give u guys a chance to read it for yourselves and see if you read the same thing into it that i do.
anyway, lolcat, sorry your tired. man, i just got up and i can't move! my whole left side is all wonky. i hurt. i hurt baaad.
stardreamer. you might fall asleep in the chair, but i bet one of these days you'll wake up on the floor , and the hubby will cover you with a blanket and go about his business again. lmao
andit. wow, so your 2009 is sucking too. that dog is awesome! course the furkids have a good trainer..a very derranged but good trainer. am cracking up about her? throwing the kong at your head. we had one of those. THOSE ARE HARD!
haun: your going to miss your cat for a long time. am sorry chickey. we had to put two down, and it took me years to get over it. i still greive over a guniea pig that got so constipated and the vet wouldn't do anything. guilt factor i guess i donno. they're like family!
smb: you got a fly? CONGRATS. just dont' wash it. are you feeding it? cause what goes in comes OUT. ds says cappuchinos makes them "go". ? pf says meatballs and (no not spaghetti) donuts. then there's that $2000 cake...pf thinks thats where golden poo comes from...
ryan wants me to ask you guys if you will poo and send it to him to sell. (omg did i just ask that on a public forum?!?)

OMG - I am not you can put that though Canada Post, but I will save some and have Gwen send it. LOL
Wait you mean on the game. I would send some, but you have not become my friend yet!!!! I sent you an invite yesterday. I am using my siggy from here as my profile pic to make it easier for you all to find me.
$2000 cake!!! I haven't got that kind of money to spend. Did you know that if you go running though the trees you get coins? My poor pet is so broke, I am going to have to put an order in though the bank and vista print, I could use some new Christmas for next year, so I just might do that and get the 8000 points. My problem is that once I get into vista print I order a ton of things and then shipping costs go up.
Anyway, I hope today is a better day for everyone.
Edwin has another hockey tern. starting tonight. I know this is bad but I hope they don't win, I don't want to have to spend the whole weekend at the rink.

Just here for a few minutes...
Will try to come on tonight again though, we are playing radio bingo with my veteran client again tonight
Pauvre Helen was on her way back from Charles' house..He married my friend, Michelle and they have a 2 year old daughter (or close to that age) and Helen often babysat Dominique. She was on her way home and was walking (she ALWAYS takes her car but that day she didn't) and she slipped on ice and slid under the garbage truck and the big garbage truck drove over her legs. They normally don't perform amputations in Yarmouth but both her legs were amputated there. She had lost a MASSIVE amount of blood and they needed some blood from other hospitals. They put her on life support as she was in "shock". She's 80 years old. She also has a broken arm but I think she got that from the fall. It was dark out (early evening) so she may not have seen the ice. They just airlifted her to Halifax last night. She suffered a heart attack yesterday. Most of the family is all gone to Halifax to be with her. It's such a tragic story. Very, very sad day here for us. Everyone knew her and when Shaun and I lived on the shore road, she walked down to the beach almost every day and I often had conversations with her. I will now pray that she goes peacefully as I don't believe she would have wanted to live with two legs amputated.
Just got word that the rest of the family has been called in so they are all headed up to Halifax and bringing their dad with them. He's very diabetic and isn't well at all. She apparently now needs a liver transplant and some of her vital organs have started to shut down. Michelle, Charles and his father headed up this morning
Such a sad day...please pray that she goes peacefull...
Hugsssss everyone...I'm just saddened by thisIt's very tragic as we live in such a close knit neighborhood, it affects everyone...

pf: i hope she goes peacefully and quickly. what a horrible tragedy! i tell my mom all the time, don't venture out alone! she already fell on the ice (she's 80 as well), but i really worry that she'll forget the way home. which she thinks is nonsense, but the last time i went on a bus with her she thought the next street over was the stop, and it was 2 more streets down
something she did frequently her 30+ years living there.
this is not going to be a good year for the elderly or smart canucksso many tragic accidents and deaths!

PF that is a horrible tragedy. Thoughts & prayers are with family & friends.
There just doesn't seem to be much good news so far this year.
