Yeah, the hard part is living in a very expensive city (still cheaper than many places though) on about $1K a month. The good thing is that my drugs (about $30K a year) are covered. The irony is that I literally got the keys to the condo 3 days before I started dialysis. At least my place is fairly close to the hospital.
My parents are great - they both grew up poor in eastern Europe, so they know how to live on next to nothing. They both were kids during WW2, so hearing their stories of how they grew up, I realize it could be so much worse & I`m grateful for what I have.
I also have amazing friends who take me out for dinner every so often & are always bringing things for the brats.
The brats are spoiled rotten, & yeah, they do deserve to be. The dog especially. I had all these weird complications & was relearning to walk when I got Lily. I know that if it weren't for her, I wouldn't be as mobile as I am today. She did more for me in a month, than 2 years of physiotherapy did. The only reason we have Quincy is because she's a cat person, so I figured she deserved to have a pet.
I`m making banana dog biscuits right now (taking a break cause my hands aren`t working properly - looking like arthritis is kicking in). You can use *any* vegetable or fruit you want (except for banana, I cook the veggies or fruit until soft).
Banana Dog Cookies
Mash 2 bananas.
Add 2 cups water & mix thoroughly until consistent.
Add enough flour to make a thick dough.
Roll out to about 1/2inch thickness (can be thicker if you want chewier cookies, but they won`t last as long).
Cut out shapes using cookie cutters (or a glass or a knife, etc).
For Chewy Cookies:
Bake at 350F for 20 minutes.
Turn off oven & allow to cool.
For Crunchy Cookies:
Bake at 200F for 45 minutes.
Turn off oven & allow to cool.
You can substitue anything in the world your pup likes. I`ve found the dogs in my neighbourhood (they know me as the cookie lady) all like cauliflower, broccoli & banana. Most like apple & carrot. Some love pear, but some will turn up their nose at it.
I also make peanut butter cookies, although with this recall, I`m not picking up PB any time soon. I still have a couple of unopened jars in my cupboard (not on the recall list), so I might make some of those later this week.
Peanut Butter Cookies
Whip 1/2 cup pb until creamy.
Mix in 1/4 cup milk until the pb is thin & runny (may need to add more milk - can use water if lactose intolerant, I just find milk makes the cookies creamier).
Lastly, I either dehydrate liver (have a dehydrator which is great), but the, um, aroma can be overwhelming. Not to mention annoying when a certain feline starts to scream at me to hurry the process along.I've also been known to make liver cake.
Liver Cake
1lb liver
1 egg
1.5 cups flour
Mix everything together in a bowl - should have a consistency like a brownie.
Put in a cake pan.
Bake at 350F for 20 minutes.
Cool & serve.
Refrigerate leftovers.
Great for b-day parties.
If you make the chewy versions of the cookies or the cake, keep in mind that it should be eaten within a week, depending on how warm & humid your environment is. The crunchy cookies last a couple of weeks with no problems (in a sealed container). You can also freeze them & change the recipe to cut the amounts in half or double without altering the recipe.
Let me know how they turn out if you decide to bake them.

Ran to the store, the FREE Dove Save coupon expired today and
was surprised that I was able to get the large bottle of body wash -
regularly sells for $8.99 (at Loblaws) great deal
Also picked up the Olay facial wipes, B1G1, at Loblaws which btw
was $2.00 cheaper than SDM.
Putting my feet up and waiting for NCIS at 8 - have a great evening all.'Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.'

Watching Enemy Mine wow Dennis Quiad is so young in it 1985
Andi thanks for the recipes dh doesnt' think Mollie will eat them but she will lol gonna make them while the kids are here and ds will eat her treat which will convince her to eat it. lmao he eats them now and they are the store bought things with lord knows what in them. Always has to taste them first and if he eats something she will. lol she loves him so much she piddles every time he comes to visit. lmao said she couldn't get into the car this time she'd have to wait outside for him to get out of it cuz she piddled on both his seats and the console. This from a dog that never ever pees on the floor, she just can't control her bladder when he comes around. Now that is true love
