Its awesome wood, already took it out of the bathroom, came up perfectly. We were going to resand and everything, but with the sanding and stuff he figures i wont be living here while thats being done bad enough in the house with the renos on the bathroom, asthma flares up. the floors squeak really bad, so he wants to start from scratch. He wants to do it thats fine, i am not helping with that..lol
I love hardwood sine I showed him that puzzle floor he really wants that in the living room but dont know where hes coming up with the cash for it, would cost us $2400 to do that.

NS - French Bread recipe
French Bread
1 1/2 lb.
1 1/3 cup + 1 Tbsp. Water
1 Tbsp. Butter or Margarine
1/2 Tbsp. Olive Oil or Vegetable Oil (I have been using 1 Tbsp. lately works great)
3 1/3 cup All Purpose or Bread Flour (sometimes I use 1 c. white and then play with other flours for something different)
1 Tbsp. (3 tsp.) Sugar (been using honey lately - smoother taste)
1 tsp. Salt
2 1/4 tsp. Yeast, Regular or yeast as recommended for your bread maker
Setting – BASIC Crust - MED. or DARK for chewier crust
I love playing with this recipe ... so ( ) are suggestions only - have funLast edited by kekes; Wed, Mar 4th, 2009 at 04:31 PM.

I buy my honey direct from farmer so Its sooo cheap compared to store, but it depends how much a person uses, I go thru an ice cream pail a year ... $25.00 4 quarts (I don't like overprocessed foods so I prefer to get from farmer)

We're in the same boat. We have some of that antique tin ceiling that needs to be stripped. We want to sell it, and know we can make a killing off of it, but who's gonna strip it?!?
Hope your plan is still working!!

It would have been easier to sand while it was still down, Home Depot here rents the machines out and you can buy the sanding pads and sealer ... as the floor is up, it can be put down again and redone, would be easier than piece by piece, but then ... how much wood is it? will depend on the WTG Remember stripped wood is raw wood and easily stained or damaged (just keep that in mind as you are relaying it)
I have hardwood floors in 2 rentals plus my mom's house ... dh and I have redone enough floors ... next one we lay is ours!!!! sometime in the next couple of years, cause Im not getting any younger! We had a living room sanded and refinished by "professionals" ... about 3 years ago around $1500 ... problem is finding a professional to do it ...
we did the kitchen floor in one house 2x over the years, my mom's bedroom, and I see her living room and bedroom are due to be redone.
As you want to do puzzle, look at stores that buy up that type of used material, and also our habitant for humanity sell stuff they are not using, look around, if you are doing "puzzle" type floor, you should be able to play with the wood as long as size is constant (thickness and width)
have fun!

NS - yes you use both the oil and margarine = 1 1/2 - 2 T total fat ...
these are two different types of fat and chemically they work really nice on this loaf
When I bake, I sub honey for sugar where I can and I like it in bread instead of sugarLast edited by kekes; Wed, Mar 4th, 2009 at 04:55 PM.
