I live in a teeny apt (ok, so it's a bit bigger than a cardboard box, but not much ) with wall-to-wall carpeting & 2 critters.
Last year my parents bought me of those dirt devil steam cleaners. & no, the cleaner wasn't bought for, ahem, accidents. Lily dog has a bad habit of drooling when there's a human eating. I had a big discoloured patch on the carpet from her saliva that the usual spot cleaners didn't take out. 2 passes with the steam cleaner & the carpet's good as new.
If you can afford one (this one was about $100 on clearance), it's worth it. I use mine about once a month to keep the carpet looking like new.
Now, if only I could find a decent vacuum that doesn't cost as much as my mortgage that actually sucks up the pet hair. The little Shark vac I got for Xmas works well enough, but seems to be discontinued & I can't find vacuum bags for it. Last yr, my parents bought me a vacuum that lasted one time, then stopped working (they took it back to the store who exchanged it - twice!).
Guess I have to keep brushing the carpet on my hands & knees with the dog's brush to get all the hairs out. The things I do for my critters.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA i almost cried when i read this one.
A 5 year old's first job...
Here's a truly heartwarming story about the bond
formed between a little 5-year-old girl and some
construction workers that will make you believe
that we all can make a difference when we give
a child the gift of our time.
A young family moved into a house, next to a
vacant lot. One day, a construction crew began
to build a house on the empty lot. The young
family's 5-year-old daughter naturally took an
interest in the goings-on and spent much of
each day observing the workers.
Eventually the construction crew, all of them
'gems-in-the-rough,' more or less, adopted her
as a kind of project mascot.. They chatted with
her during coffee and lunch breaks and gave her
little jobs to do here and there to make her feel
important. At the end of the first week, they even
presented her with a pay envelope containing ten
dollars. The little girl took this home to her
mother who suggested that she take her ten
dollars 'pay' she'd received to the bank the next
day to start a savings account.
When the girl and her mom got to the bank, the
teller was equally impressed and asked the little girl
how she had come by her very own pay check at
such a young age.. The little girl proudly replied,
'I worked last week with a real construction crew
building the new house next door to us.'
'Oh my goodness gracious,' said the teller, 'and will
you be working on the house again this week, too?'
The little girl replied, 'I will, if those a$$holes at
Home Depot ever deliver the f-n' sheet rock.'
Kind of brings a tear to the eye - doesn't it?
nite all.

I'm so excited lol been wanting a black cat on PS and a friend gave me one tonight and told me how to get those and lots of other things. She said she plays on ghost trapper and mousehunt *(think it was mousehunt or trap) which she gets gold coins for. She takes those to ps marketplace on facebook and trades the gold coins for things she wants. She said people that play mousehunt and ghost trapper really want those gold coins and trade a lot of great things to get them. Wondered how she'd got so many black cats. lol told her tonight that when my pet Mollie visits her I always make sure to click on one of her cats just as I'm she's leaving and then hurry and click on the door hoping she will make it thru it with one of her cats lol..I do it cracks me up...anyway she offered me one assured me she can get more if she wants them and told me how. AND NO Tina lol I do not want to trade you anything for my kitty cat! . I must of mentioned to Tina that I wanted one she thought I said I had one so was all hot to talk to me lmao until she found out I didn't have one. Then she didn't wanna talk to me no more! Luvs ya anyway Tina but that be my kitty!

NEW CODE ON SWAGBUCS, incase i missed anyone
WTH is a watervac? i got 2 dogs, 4 cats 2 rabbits, 4 guinea pigs. you shoulda seen the hair i picked up with my regular vac. it's scary!!!
andit: i have this eurorpo stick vac (about 100 bucks) i got it for 50 i think they're discontinuing them, anyway, the little bugger SUCKS, and i mean that in a good way. it pulls all kinds of crap out of the floor.
only problem is, it's the 2nd one i've had. why? cause my son is ruff with it. and this time, nothing broke (cause he's older now) but there's a trap door, underneath, that you can open and unclog it, anyway, it fell off, and i musta mistaken it for a broken toy and thrown it out. but it is fixed, a pc of ductape works fine. but this is the 2nd time i've lost that door.
and the filter gets clogged with the cat dander, but if you take an exacta knife, you can scrap out the crevices. the filter is paper/cardboard, but it's sturdy, you won't rip it if you go easy. takes a few mins. so anytime the brush stops rolling, i check the trap door first, then the filter.
and man, i tell you that filter and over a cup fulla dust and crap in it, from doing just the stairs!!!Last edited by NSangel; Fri, Mar 13th, 2009 at 08:10 AM.

I love my Dyson, does everything but costs us $600. Well worth it for me and now they have the handheld for $170 so that might be worth it to pick up hairs. Best invention ever that James Dyson was a smart soccer athlete who built vacuums ?! Weird huh?
NS thnx again

Diarrea is back in this house.. Yacoub woke up with a full diaper of diarrea (keep them on at night for him, hes 3 1/2) and then woke up this morning again and overflowing so my carpets are disgusting. I am going to call my parents soon and have someone come here and steam my carpets cuz the upstairs smells like crap. I feel horrible. He now agrees to taking Pepto Bismol versus seeing a doctor but is there anything a doctor will give him?
