Well, we def do not have poutine at our Burger Kings. I've never seen curds either at any deli or grocery in my life.

And the 100g thing...our stuff doesn't come like that. Still in ounces, pounds, gallons, etc. I can figure that out though. I do know that 28g is an ounce, but I won't tell you how I learned that

We do have the French's powdered gravy mixes in packets-all kinds except poutine.

Best I ever has was somewhere in St Laurant. And same for a Donair, it was a little Greek restaurant and they were freaking awesome! I used to order a bunch and bring them back for all my friends. This was in the late 70's and I would not be able to tell you the names of these places, but I am pretty sure they were on a main road. lol

Oh and thanks for the words ((huggers))
Thanks for the info! Warning..another question....what's a Donair??

In northern Ontario (Timmins), we do pronounce it 'poutsin' and the best poutine is made with fresh mozzarella cheese curds that squeak when you chew them. I pick mine up at the farmers market but even though they say they're fresh, it's hit or miss for me. When I can't get them I grate mozzarella cheese.
For gravy I sometimes use Club House poutine gravy mix - it's a powder, or I go to the dollar store and pick up a can of Carriere Poutine sauce which isn't too bad. Of course, homemade gravy is best and I prefer beef over chicken.
Undoubtedly the best place to get poutine in Ontario is Chez Nous in Timmins. Even Shania Twain loves it. What more can I say??
I asked for everybody's opinion!! It just so happened that haunish was the only one answering last night.

I'm having this feeling that one day I'm gonna have to have curds shipped to me on dry ice or something...

I love learning all of these differences...it's all very cool to me!

    Thanks for the info!!

I always have curds in my poutine, it's the only way to go and I don't like BurgerKings. My daughter puts ketchup on her's but I don't like that. I have learned over the years that poutine can be a very good hangovedr cure, something about all that grease soaking up the residual alcohol

    thanks for the words

donairs are a what I call a greek version of a soft taco, except much better.
lots of thinly shave lamb or beef (like a gyro), topped with various chopped items of your choice, like chopped onions, lettuce, tomatos. and then a good healthy dose of creamy garlicy sauce all warped in a soft pita.

Heck, if anyone wants to visit me, I'll feed you. LOL Last time I tried to have a party no one showed up! I hate when that happens. I tried to have a girls night a while back--cooked authentic Mexican food all day long with a good friend. I'm talking everything from scratch, from the tortillas to the salsa with oven roasted tomatoes and garlic...and of course margaritas!! What the heck is wrong with people??

Then I offered some friends free steak and beer if they helped put up my sheds, the sheds are still in the boxes and I have had them now for 3 months!! Well I got something for them Name: spank.gif
