When i was going through this kinda stuff the only thing that helped me was when a family friend, a 'tough' boy a few years older, started keeping watch over me on the playground and threatened anyone who bothered me. My dad was friends with his parents and asked him to look out for me when the bullying started. It helped the other kids back off a bit.
Not sure if this helps at all
Another option would be to see if the school could set up a big brother or mentoring program. Kids are so intimidated by older kids... might help.

I had a guy friend watch over me as well, guys in school were always after me and some girls, got in a few fights, the guys were after me for sick reasons though, I hated school. Then I made friends with this guy who was like my bodyguard, even came to check up on me when I got my first job.
My son has had some troublewith a bully in his class, came home last year with a huge goose egg on his forehead, was slammed into the chair...lets just say my dh didnt react well.
Think woul dbe good if could have an older kid with him. My friend wasnt older, but you didnt mess with him, he had come from an abusive home where his dad went after his mom and he just despised men picking on women..was indebted to him made school easier at an awkward time.

Have a great trip! Orlando is a fun place to go. When I went, we ate at a Mexican resturaunt near International Drive. I had a frozen peach margarita--OMG it was so good!Like a peach icee with a kick!
NS, I'm so sorry that Ryan is continuing to have trouble with those mean kids. I hope your meeting brings some resolution to the problem. If not, let's go kick some bully a**es!

Seapotato, there are the contests, they award points for entering contests, and for voting in contests ... but ..... the points are really really long in coming

Hi all,
Sorry for the silence, the brats and I have been on a mini-vacation at my parents (they're only 20 minutes away, but the brats get spoiled rotten, so it's vacation time for them). I'm going back there tomorrow, Dad's going in for (hopefully minor uncomplicated) surgery on Wed (rescheduled and threw a monkeywrench into my plans, but c'est la vie).
NS - hope your son feels better and something can be done to keep him safe. Don't have any words of wisdom, cause I never went through it - I was the geeky bookworm in school who wasn't important enough for other kids to bother with.
I somehow managed to vote again, don't understand why I can sometimes get on the page and sometimes not. Gremlins in the computer or is the cat at it again? Anyone have an idea when the contest will end? Or should I just be grateful for the extra 250 points?
Thanks for the words, I really appreciate them, although I haven't seen a prize the dog would like yet (last prize was the dog coat in the avatar that's become the cat's, um, present, since I stupidly didn't read the fine print indicating size).
Thanks for all the rep. I've been spreading some around myself, when I've had time and permission.
Hope those who are under the weather don't have the nasty cold/flu/infection that I did - 4 weeks of feeling like I'd been flattened by a steamroller. If you really feel bad, get some Cipro from your doc - best antibiotic out there.
If I'm not back by the weekend, have a good one.

I always do that.. not just when I'm sick ;b
Artsy BF took me out to a fancy dinner once when I lived in NYC, they put fiddleheads on my plate and it grossed me out. He was so embarrassed.. lmao. Needless to say that was our last date!
Yes... You must be the cat version of Cruella DeVil.
That thing looks so much like Cousin It, it made me literally laugh out loud.
Reading this made me so furious, I wanted to drive out there and do.. something! It immediately gives you that feeling of "impotent anger", and I don't even know what I would do. I feel so bad for Ryan, and for you. I would love nothing more than to come there just so I could walk him to school myself every day.. but I'd end up in jail, cause I have a temper problem when it comes to kids I love getting hurt.
Racefan, how are you meeting him? That sounds very exciting! Tell more!
