ok I looked up the s1600 and its a model down from mine so probably very similar - the only thing I wouldnt like about it is the lens type, mine has a permanent housing for the lens so I can add on a macro lens etc which you cant do with the 1600 but other than that it looks like a great camera, especially if you get it cheap/free at sdm
