and they do have feelings, when our 16 y/o died last year, Autumn was just heart broken, she looked for him for days, maybe we should have let him go here (he was close when we took him to the vet) so she seen him like that, I don't know. She would cry and look in places there is no way he would have fit in, she actually looked up the vacuum hose and did her cry for him. That is why we got Quincy, she was so lonely and she just isnt close with Bumper who was the one who was jealous of her when we got her

Those urinary track crystles are so common. When I worked at the vet we did a lot of catheterizations to clean them out and sometimes as soon as the cats would go home and eat the same food that caused it they would be back in as little as a few days. Sometimes it's fatal.

So sorry Lites, we have lost cats very young too, a couple of them were a year old and drowned in our neighbors pool. I almost think it's harder when they are younger. :cry:

Awe,
thats so sad...I brought the cat home because we wanted to bury him on our acreage...I told my DH I was going to let the others see him before I burried him (this was only 20 minutes after he was put down)...I laid him in my arms on the kitchen floor and they were sniffing him and the dog was budging him with her nose...almost like they all knew...and then the walked away and I buried him...now they are just wondering I guess.

Yeah Patty the vet told me that the food we gave him was good food, but that because he is an indoor cat, he doesn't get as much activity or pee as much as outdoor cats...and this was actually the 2nd time this year he had crystals...the first time in February, the vet made us change the food, which we did..but this time, it WAS fatal.

Lites, vets are given lessons by Hills and the other big companies, they actually dont have a clue a lot of the time, thats why they push the brands they know

When I first switched to my vet after a huge fight with my old one, she was surprised how much research I had done on the foods my cats were eating. I had only had my old cat for a year and he was very very obese and she wanted to put him on a diet food full of carbs and I refused and showed her the research. She said it all made sense but she had just never thought of it since she was taught another way but now she stocks low carb and low ash foods
