We mainly collect Marriott points, since thats where we seem to stay most often

I signed up for one of those promos and recd a free night certificate to stay at any marriott 1-4 for free!
I booked the most expensive one I could find (haha) near the Airport in Michigan the night before our Vegas trip, saved myself 240 bucks!!!!!
YAY!
I've also earned enough points for a free stay, but im saving those

I am an avid Starwood Preferred Guest point collector.
Used the SPG points for the following luxuries already in the last 5 years since we started collecting!
- 3 nights stay at Sheraton Grand Laguna in Phuket
- 3 nights stay at Le Meridien in Singapore
- 3 nights stay at Westin Times Square in New York City
- 1 night stay at Sheraton Fallsview in Niagara Falls
- 1 night stay at Westin Harbour Front in Toronto
- 1 night stay at Four Points Vancouver
- 1 first class round trip ticket from Toronto to Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific
I
my SPG points!

I usually use my work discount code, it isn't valid with rewards cards but the discounts are good, but I do have a Wyndham Rewards card and have already got a free night from them since I started collecting last year (we used it for a night away in the Falls)

Wow, nice! Great use of points.
I've always used priceline or stayed at hostels for personal leisure travel so those don't qualify for hotel reward credit. Any qualifying business travel has been converted to aeroplan miles.
But this year I've been collecting SPG points to a large degree from the new amex card. I am almost to the point in life where I value the creature comforts instead of a hostel (yes I'm getting old, but still a backpacker at heart
), so will start redeeming them for luxury properties.

just realized how valuable the SPG points are. was looking at booking a stay at the four points in sydney..... $240 for the lowest non-refundable rate. with SPG, I only have to pay $46AUD along with 2800 points. even with the 'cost' of points factored in, it's even cheaper than the youth hostel I usually stay at.

Yay, travelgeek!!!! Welcome to the world of SPG points!!!
I forgot to add that I redeemed another 3 nights of hotel stay at the Westin Time Square in NYC last May! It was 36k points for the 3 nights, and if I paid via the best price on the website, it would have cost me more than $1k USD.
The SPG program is AWESOME!!!! I
it!

I collect points from Intercontenental (Holiday Inn's and their brand.) I quite like their set up and they always make a point of thanking me for being a points collector.
I did have an account with Hilton but if you haven't stayed at their property w/in a year they cancel your account and you have to start over! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT? RIP OFF! One year I had a really long stay w/ Hilton but didn't stay w/in the next year and was told my account needed to be restarted.
Just b/c I have a points card doesn't mean I will always stay at that brand hotel though. It just depends on where we go and what the locations/price look like.
