.
...as long as you have filed your 2011 income tax return and it has been assessed before the first credit payment date.
Otherwise your wait will be longer if you filed after April 30, as the seasonal tax staff are no more after April 30 (returns will take 6-8 weeks for assessment).
Any chance the first post can be updated in this very useful thread? ;)
Does anyone know when/how do you find out about the 2012/2013 OSTC amounts we'll receive and dates as well? I never received any confirmation when I submitted my taxes and haven't received anything in the mail about it either.
The OSTC, OEPTC and NOEC will all be combined into a new single tax credit called the Ontario Trillium Benefit i.e OTB.
You will receive a monthly OTB payment starting in July-2012. You will receive it each and every month i.e for 12 months. To the best of my knowledge the OTB payments are on the 10 th of each month , so July 10 , Aug 10 , Sep 10 etc.

The GST/HST payments are seperate from these OTB payments and you will still receive the GST/HST payments each qtr .
tjthemanto thank you, I totally forgot about them being combined and into the OTB starting this year. I guess we find out how much that will be when it's deposited than? Because I haven't received anything via snail mail with the amount I should receive. Well at least we'll get that and GST in July!
You can calculate it at the link below if you want. Just divide the lump sum number you get by 12 to get your monthly OTB payments and yes its the 10 th of each month.

Important Information:
The Ontario Trillium Benefit (OTB) is the combining of the payment issuance for three existing programs: the Ontario energy and property tax credit (OEPTC), the Northern Ontario energy credit (NOEC) and the Ontario sales tax credit (OSTC). The OTB payments will be issued on the 10th of each month, starting on July 10, 2012. Therefore, if you are expecting an OSTC or an OEPTC/NOEC payment, it will show as an OTB payment.
Love the fine print for the OTB...
So $2 is the crucial determinant if money comes or not (like the CRA). No nickel-rounding up from a penny, no siree.Quote:
1. Specific rules apply to smaller Ontario Trillium Benefit entitlements.
2. All amounts shown are rounded to the nearest dollar; however, if the unrounded entitlement for all credits added together is $2.00 or less, no amount will be paid for the Ontario Trillium Benefit.
3. If the unrounded entitlements are greater than $2.00 but less than $10.00, then the Ontario Trillium Benefit will be bumped up to $10.
4. If the total Ontario Trillium Benefit entitlement is at least $10 but not more than $240 for the year, the Ontario Trillium Benefit will be paid in a single annual payment and the monthly amount will show as N/A.
