Stove (Range) questions help me out please!

Im thinking of buying a new stove, I was just wondering what features one might suggest. Theres a nice flattop 5 element one im looking at for 599 reg 999 here.
Thoughts? (price is showing up regular but its on sale, sears seems to be having pricing problems)

I right now just have a basic coil with a few elements not working anymore. I'm not sure what convection is like, but I'm quite fine without it. Also whats self cleaning like? Does it actually clean itself? I'm down with that haha!

I have self cleaning...love it!!
No need for getting on my knees and using stinky cleaners and scrubbing away...mine just bakes all the rubbishy stuff off at a real high temp.

and it doesn't make the house really smoky?

Sometimes...but i always figure its cos i still dont clean it that often:embarassed:
I put the extractor fan on or in summer open the back door.....

I LOVE my self cleaning oven. Best thig ever!!! I clean it on a day the I can at least crack open my kitchen window and run the fan. I do not find it smokes so much but ti does have a strong smell. Also need to clean out any major sugar based spills to avoid flares...but AWESOME feature!!!

Personally I would also never reccommend Maytag.....

We bought new appliances in September when we bought our house, and believe me, i found it quite stressful choosing just the right one "for me".

We opted for the Whirlpool brand. When we compared all the features we wanted against other brands, we feel we got more bang for our buck with Whirlpool. I wanted Smooth Top Cooktop, "Steamclean" self clean(amazing) and true convection(cause i love to bake).

The only downfall to the smooth top cooktops, is that it is so easy to "bake" any spillage/spatter onto the the cooktop, then it takes a bit of work to clean it off(even with the cooktop cleaner & razor blade).

But I absolutely love my new range.....and its so pretty (which is what i said to the delivery guy when he delivered it, he just burst out laughing).

convection makes your pilsbury crescents turn out ever so much more fluffed up ;)

i have a ceramic top i inherited with my house, it is nice to be able to just wipe it clean (sometimes some scrubbing when you boil over a pot of something that burns easily)

The Ceran tops are very expensive to replace if you ever happen to drop
anything on them ie salt or pepper shakers

I still have a 1963 GE Range that is Aqua Green and I love it

Coil Elements are the best imho

Whirlpool owns Kitchen Aid, Jenn Air, Admiral, Maytag, Inglis & Amana
Most Kenmore Appliance are made by Whirlpool also

The Oven you are looking at is a Frigidaire and is made in Canada

The one I was looking at is kenmore lol.

I def want a flat top. Ive found a really nice convection flat top, just need to decide if I want all digital or some knobs.

hmmn Im more swaying to a few other models now. I just cant decide if I want all touch or keep the knobs. For cleaning purposes no knobs would be awesome. But for functionality I dont want to have my mom babysit and not be able to figure out the oven.

I just just cleaned my oven out - great winter thing to do. It's not like it 'entirely' cleans itself, the instructions recommend wiping down first, and you have to clean outside the gasket on the door. But it's WAY easier and faster than a non-self cleaning model and no nasty oven cleaner to use!

Less knobs mean more Electronics, more things to break down
