On Monday, I decided to pop into Pharmaprix/SDM to take advantage of the 20x the points when you buy $25+ of specific brands like Crest, Oral B, Gillette, Old Spice, etc. Ideally, I would have combined this with the Saturday, 20x the points promo - but I honestly couldn't come up with $75 of stuff to buy!!

I ended up "buying" 4 Crest Pro Health, 2 Old Spice Deodorant, 3 Garnier Fructis Styling Spray, and 2 Old Spice Body Wash.

The Old Spice Deodorant was marked as $2.99 on the shelf, but it rang up at $3.49 each. I didn't realize this until I got home - so I went back today and ended up SCOPing them. They still had the $2.99 price tag up - which confirmed I wasn't crazy and the price was in fact not $3.49
I had used the buy 1 deodorant get 1 body wash free coupons too - so I ended up with it all for FREE!! Crazy!!

Here is what I bought and coupons used:

    4 - Crest Pro Health @ $4.49 - 4 x FPCs = 4 x FREE
    2 - Old Spice Deodorant @ $2.99 - SCOP'd because rang up as $3.49 = 2 x FREE
    2 - Old Spice Body Wash @ $4.99 - 2 x B1G1 coupons = 2 x FREE!
    3 - Garnier Fructis Styling Spray @ $2.99 - 3 x $2 coupons = $2.97

    Total Before Coupons & SCOP = $42.89
    Coupons Used = $33.94
    SCOP = $5.98
    OOP without Tax = $2.97 for all 11 items!!! + 6600 BPs & 430 Regular Pts!!

Now the mixed feelings...$5.85 in tax...

The cashier rang in all my FPCs as code 2001 as opposed to 2002 , which means I could earn regular SDM Points on them. And which means I have to pay the tax on them!! So instead of about $1.02 in tax, I paid $5.85!! But I didn't say anything - after all I was already getting SDM BPs and using tons of FPCs. Nonetheless, had I known they would enter my FPCs as 2001 - I would have used them and taking my chances on Saturday during the 20x the points event - where I would have received the 20x the pts on them plus the 20x the product bonus pts promo!!

My trip to sdm(st clair street location) on saturday was like that. The cashier rang in my 3 FPCs as 2001 also. I didn't complain, but i was puzzled at first.
So I paid more tax but got the points for it.

interesting that you got 2 SCOP's - were they do diff. varieties, ie. 2 diff UPC's?

the only items that are technically non-taxable were the 4 FPC's - the taxes on those would be around $2 - when using a coupon to reduce the price of an item to Free, you are still obligated to pay tax on those items.

the way I see it you came out ahead, as the 2 SCOP's offset the taxes that yoou paid.

Cashiers at SDM/Pharmaprix use 2 codes to enter most coupons typically:

2001 = Regular $$ off coupons, you still get SDM pts on the value of those coupons, and you pay tax on the full amount

2002 = Free Product Coupons or Buy 1 Get 1 Free Coupons and when they use this code you don't get regular SDM pts on those and you don't pay tax
