Coupon code of ethics?? Anyone? Anyone?

I am wondering what the SC community's consensus is on printable coupons. I recently printed out the GNI coupon ($5.00 off delissio) then I adjusted it to allow me to fit 2 on 1 page then printed off a "" few coupons. I used some and gave some to family. Although I have not had any issues using them, 1 family member read on face book that many people are posting on the GNI facebook page that they are having problems using them because the stores are not getting reimbursed. I would not want to ruin a very good thing (using coupons) What do you think??

I don't know. I don't waste much time with printed coupons as I find they are not worth the headache. However, I think common sense should apply? If it's meant to be used once, then maybe not go overboard. Makes sense to me.

the GNI facebook page today said they were allowing 2x printouts for each facebook user, and the coupon printing/not accepting has been going on for weeks especially places like walmart who had the pizza on sale a couple weeks ago

Is the upc code different for each printer used? or each f/b users coupon? I notice the scott paper towel printable $2.00 only allowed me to access the coupon 2 times. ( I did not have printer plugged in and did not get it)

If you are altering the size of the coupon then its not likely that the company will give the store money back for it.

common sense? yea right...people just used HOW MANY soft lip coupons?

I have used all different printer settings while printing. I have even printed them in just black and white when im out of color ink. Dont get me wrong, I dont print out dozens at a time or anything but I would think that depending on printer presets etc size should not matter. I am not worried about "" getting away with anything. I am concerned about the stores not getting their money and eventually refusing to take coupons. I appreciate the thoughts and opinions so far please keep them coming. Is there any one in retail that can shed some light or share some past experiences?

I think some "shelfclearing" happened with the Softlips...................I know my local SDM doesn't carry many on the shelf as a rule.....so they were gone on day 3, and the shelf is still empty a week & a half later, as it's not something they normally sell a lot of.

(I think some people have the mindset,................ "It's Ok if I grab 20 for myself today; I'm sure they have caseloads in the back; they'll just restock 5 min. from now.".................not a true scenario.........they definitely keep pop & groceries by the caseload, but not a more obscure item like lipbalm.) :)

I recall an issue with a printable coupon a few years back, having to do with altering the size. Its supposed to be printed as is. If not, the company wasnt reimbursing.

I don't really bother much with printable coupons either. It seems it's always a hassle to redeem (the almost 'random' acceptance in stores that do claim to accept them along with others that just refuse).

It was the SC Johnson coupons that were resized and the stores weren't getting their money back.

So, yes for some companies the size its printed does matter.

some printers automatically resize according to margins etc so that seems a little unfair unless they have a coupon printer install type software that overrides your printer settings but they said on facebook they are aware of the sizing issue that makes the coupon bigger than letter size so I dont think they are worrying since people said they resized

As far as usage, I agree with Anne, if its not meant to be printed more than once, don't go overboard with them *despite what others may be doing* because the number used does affect the store's policy on them. My local WM limited them to 6 max after the last $5 coupon after someone came in and bought every single pizza they had an even asked if they had more in the back

i agree with the softlips i didnt even bother because it frustrates me to go on day one of a sale to see all gone or see someone buying all of them with coupons (printable)

i dont like printables. i don't like the problems with regular coupons, don't need to deal with it with print outs

I dont print..it is way more of a hassle and not really worth it
