It's so sunny out there by the beach you need sunglasses!!!

Yesterday, I was in Metro to get a couple of things and I noticed an ice-cream cake which cost $24.99 on sale for $9.99. I figured why not I'll get it at that price maybe to celebrate my new fridge or my birthday in a while. Anyways, when I went to pay for it it came up $14.99, I told the cashier that was wrong so they sent someone to check who came back and said yes it is $10.00. The cashier said since they were wrong I should get it free and she called her manager but the manager said that is only for items that come out under $10.00 so they would give it to me for $4.99. That was a pretty good price but I pointed out to the cashier the price was $9.99 which is below $10 so it should really be free. She agreed so that cake ended up costing me nothing!!! Now that's a price I can live with!!!

Remember if they charge you wrong at check out which often happens you may be entitled to get it free!!!

Thats awsome ecat !! Good to know do all grocery stores do this? Not sure if they do here in the Shwa you can always bring the cake to FICW giggle

Not entirely sure if all of them do it, but I think they are supposed to! I know Valu Mart does it down here, I've got a few freebies because they charged me wrong. They won't always point it out to you, you should know yourself, or they will have it wrote in very small letters near the cashier, hoping you won't notice (hmmm) anyways hopefully now you will all think about it! By the way, hi michele!!! It's not that big of a cake but did go for $24.99, I think my daughter would kill me if I gave it away, sorry....

Yes all major stores do this (walmart, grocery chains etc). But it applies to only the first item if you are buying multiples of the same thing. For example if you are buying four boxes of cereal and the price is higher at the cash than on the shelf the FIRST on is free (or for bigger items $10 off the lowest price) and the rest are at the lowest price. I forget what they call this rule though. I'll ask my husband. He's an expert in getting free stuff in this way.
