SC is making the world a better place! When I first came to Canada in 1981 and if I would give something to someone (as is in my culture - we always share) - they would look at me and say "are you sure" - or as one of them said "you must be loaded" ummm what? would I be couponing if I were? (Actually I would - ha ha). It took me a while to understand that people thought I was "bribing" them or wanting something back in return when I would do something nice for them or get them a small gift just for the heck of it. Then I stopped giving out stuff :( Now I can do that again thanks to SC!! Thank you Boo Radley for starting it up and all you mods and volunteers and staff and anyone who has helped SC grow to such a size.

mhk, I totally understand where you are coming from. My husband and I always talk about this. It is really sad that in todays world when you help someone they look like a deer caught in headlights. It's just not done much anymore. They are in shock. I always hear "what do I owe you?" or the "are you sure?" Yes I'm sure and you don't owe me a bloody thing. If I can't help out my fellow man when someone is in need then the world has gone kaput. A week ago, a lady, (I can't say where due to ppl on here in my area may know who I'm talking about if I describe the situation and I could never do that to her) who works in a store around here had something wrong with her, she was hurt and still working. I asked why she was working in her condition, she teared up and said because I have too. We started talking. She was a bit hesitant to give me her phone number as I was a stranger and well some ppl say I look mean lol. So I was leaving her my number, then she said you know what heres mine. So with her number in tow we went home. She told me she worked until 7 that day, shorter day due to the pain. At 6:45 we were there waiting parked near the doors, I felt like a stalker lol. Saw her come out and approached her, told her the back of our truck was full of food for her. She got the deer in the headlights look again, shocked. She walked over and my husband opened the lid and this lady bawled. Apparently she hadn't eaten in 2 days as she was saving every penny for her medications which were pricey. This broke my heart as I understand as some days I don't take my diabetic meds due to cost and no work right now. Anyways she preceeded to say that every pay day she would give us 20.00 to pay for the food. I freaked as said NO!!!! Told her this is what mankind should do, no strings attached. It's just what one should do if they can. So again the "I'll pay you type thing as that's what ppl expect nowadays. I'm not about that. The man upstairs put me here for a reason and selfishness was not one of them. I never post anything we do as far as giving, to me it doesn't need to be posted. I don't need credit for what I do. But this was to show you I totally understand the "are you sures" or how ppl may think it's weird to help. I see it all the time. I can't help anyone finacially right now as my husband has been out of work due to the winter months so there has been no income here for awhile, BUT I have 3 freezers full here and a stockpile thanks to the wonderful scers on here raok me coupons :) Sc has some pretty amazing people on here and I am blessed to know them :)

Hog, yes, one mans junk is another man treasure :) Thankfully I had 2 with me today. I had to go out in a hurry didn't eat, almost dropped at the store lol, but I also think I may be coming down with the flu or something. Just not feeling good, tis the season :(
