Usually somebody reads a new blog post that mentions the code or notices it on twitter or facebook or the chat bar and they let people know to "look at the blog" for a code on this thread.
There is a tool that you can cut and paste on to your web site or igoogle page called swidget -- it's a boxy widget that you can click "check if there's a code" and it'll tell you if there's one -- code on blog etc.
You also can use someone swidget on their site like this:

Click the SC codes button at the bottom of the box.
