Yikes! Just leave the poor little fishy alone. It took a long time to get that big.

I can't profess to understand God's plan. Christ promised the resurrection of the dead. I just thought he had something a little different in mind.

The lake sturgeon is Ontario's largest freshwater fish, reaching lengths over 2 metres and weights up to 136.5 kilograms.
Lake sturgeon populations in Ontario declined dramatically around the turn of the 20th century due to historic over-harvest for meat and caviar, habitat destruction, reduced water quality and the introduction of competitor species.
Of the three lake sturgeon populations in Ontario, two are now listed as Threatened (with the third being designated Special Concern) on the Species at Risk in Ontario list. Under the Endangered Species Act, 2007, it is illegal to harm, harass or capture Threatened species.
As of Oct. 15, 2009, the ministry implemented a year-round closure of lake sturgeon fishing where populations are listed as Threatened.I can't profess to understand God's plan. Christ promised the resurrection of the dead. I just thought he had something a little different in mind.

Albany River Sturgeon Fishing Sturgeon are one of the last few creatures from the dinosaur age that still live. They are also an endangered species and extinct in most places in North America but still common in the Albany River. Sturgeon can also reach 150-pounds in the Albany River with some getting even bigger. In 2003, there was a 153-pound Sturgeon caught about 15 miles up stream from our Albany River outpost camp on Caviar Lake. It was 15-pounds under the Ontario record. They are more common in the 20 to 60-pound range.

they also mention this...
You need a C.I.T.E.S (Export Permit) to bring Sturgeon meat back into the US so it's best to take a picture and let them go. A big Sturgeon will give you all the fun and excitement you need.I can't profess to understand God's plan. Christ promised the resurrection of the dead. This is why (IMO), Americans come to Canada to hunt. They have decimated the wild animals in the US and look to our country to kill. We shipped wolves down to Yellowstone to repopulate the numbers and ranchers killed them. Yankee go home.

I agree to some degree. Yankee should go home. But not all are bad. A lot of good conservation practices have come out of the States.

You are right. It's just that every American I have ever come across has been arrogant ignoramism.

What do I care about Americans? If they're in my yard, I might give a hoot. Otherwise, leave them alone, like the sturgeon and wolves.
