Environment Canada upgrades Toronto’s winter storm watch to snowfall warning

TORONTO, Ont. – Environment Canada has upgraded a winter storm watch to a snowfall warning for Toronto.
Much of southern and eastern Ontario is bracing for a winter storm Thursday, with at least 15 centimetres expected by Friday, according to Environment Canada.
The agency upgraded the the winter storm watch to a winter storm warning for Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville.
According to the agency, many parts of southern and eastern Ontario may receive 15 centimetres of snow by Friday evening. Some areas may receive as much as 25 centimetres of snow, the agency said.
Easterly winds may also result in blowing snow in many areas Thursday night and Friday, the agency said.
The weather agency is warning of a messy commute Thursday night through Friday morning.
“There may be a significant impact on the commute to work on Friday morning and possibly Friday afternoon in heavy snow and blowing snow,” the agency said in a statement.

Canada will win most gold medals at Sochi Olympics, forecast says
Infostrada Sports Group in the Netherlands predicts Canada will top all countries with 17 gold medals at next year's Sochi Winter Olympics and place third overall with 32 podium finishes.
With the 2014 Sochi Olympics just a year away, one European company foresees good things for Canada.

At the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, Canada set a national record for a Winter Games by winning 26 medals, and Canada's 14 gold medals in Vancouver doubled the country's previous best total.
Three years ago, the United States led with 37 medals overall, outdistancing Germany (30) and Canada. But the Americans, according to Infostrada, are projected to fall to fourth place in Russia with 28 medals, including 10 gold.
Infostrada predicts Germany to win the most hardware with 39 medals, followed by Norway (38) and Canada.

National Fettuccine Alfredo Day
Cook your fettuccine in boiling water with a little bit of salt until al dente. Drain. Add melted butter, grated parmesan cheese, heavy cream and toss it all with a bit of seasoning. Sprinkle with a bit more parm and serve. Add broccoli or chicken for a contemporary twist!
