I tell my daughter, if a guy is not going to treat you well while dating, he most certainly will not once you get married...
I was brought up and when nI began dating, my dates always came to pick me up.
Of curse when I was 13/14 he would come over and we would take a bus together...
I was taken out to nice places for dinner... and was not expected to pay. For birthdays or periodically I would pay but often they didn't want me to.
I realize times have changed... though I am often taken out andwhen I offer toim pay they say no. If my date's car broke down, I would pick him up...
I would not want to be the driver all the time though.

Pickup a date is not a problem at all if i am on a date ... I am happy to go over and do the pick up, and I always pay for the dinners when going out even if the ladies offered to pay. But the unexpected problems like my car breaks down or not starting for example is what i can't control, so that once in a blue moon is when the in need comes.

and talking about b-days - my last gf set up a party at a so-so good restaurant with a few friend and eat and some drinks. After 2 hours of eating, talking and opening presents ... I was hoping she pays this one time for eating out ... Guess what??? she hands me the bill of ~ $220 and said exactly "here you go honey" ... that b-day was the worst b-day I ever had

The up side is she thought of you and got people together for you.
Not great she gave you the bill..... however if she would have left you all by yourself instead, that would have been worse in my opinion...

I just wish people could date more honestly ( no facade, no ulterior motives ), I guess it is complicated from both sides. ( females can also feel that pressure of what is expected , or presumed from them on a date)
I guess it really is just hit and miss till you find that one person you can really trust.
