Please check out the Disability Tax Credit to see if your Kids qualify.
Also
Registered Disability Savings Program (RDSP)
If you or child is eligible for the Disability Tax Credit (or CDB), this savings plan is matched by government contributions. It's a good program not everyone realizes that they might qualify.

In Ontario if you have a disabled parking pass you can park on the street in a no-parking zone for up to 4 hours. As long as it doesn't say no-stopping. City Parking meters free for 4 hours.
Hope this helps anyone
This is super great fantastic ....I know if your child is over the age of eight and only needs a one to three ratio (1staff to 2 students) York Region School Board offer 1/2 day summer school for free including door to door drop off and pick up :) ( for the month of July)
I just updated Marineland.....not liking that families with Autistic children who cannot wait have to wait for their family to get through...they need to take a look at what Disney does!
for the remainder of the summer and for future summers, if your child has the DTC they can take the stub to your local pool and get a free summer pass.
What a great thread! Thanks for all the great information Koolaid. I know a few people that will benefit from this information.
Thanks so much koolaid.
Just put up an update on Canada's Wonderland....apparently autistic children no longer can not wait for rides.....meltdowns for sure!
Also new hotel in Texas targeting Autistic families!!!!
I just learned about the Access 2 Entertainment a couple of weeks ago at a 'Parents of Special Needs kids' discussion group. That's awesome! I took my son (and his cousins!) to the movies for the first time on Canada Day w'end to see Monsters University. He loved it!
If you have a handicapped parking permit you can use it to go fishing for free in Ontario rather than buying a fishing license. Not sure about the other provinces.
thanks for the great info :) I am glad to see that some places help us out in the best way they can its so great as our funding in the county got cut off so my son cant see a behavioural specialist .
You can always try applying for PC Children's Charities. I've gotten two speech therapy blocks from them. http://www.presidentschoice.ca/en_CA...nity/pccc.html
Thank you very much Koolaid my son has been waiting on the behavioural list for 6 months has not moved a spot . All these cut backs over the next 3 years he will never move they are cutting staff . Its really sad as in our County 16% if kids have a learning disability . If these kids do not get their treatment I think its going to be ruff down the road . Again thank you :)
I just noticed this thread--and thought I would add two points--the Access card is $20 and make sure you carefully fill out the form--when the program first started my dh applied and missed one question and they sent the form back (after cashing his cheque) and told us to reapply again --sorry no refunds.
Secondly--many provincial parks are not all easily accepting the disabled parking permits as proof of the disabilty--stating "misuse" by family members (and others) of the parking permit! Honestly, I have seen the misuse too often. This just means you may have to show other info. or in my dh's case--my dh in his wheelchair is the best 'proof'.
And a big thank you for posting--it is always good to know that there are now so many good things available that were not there when my dh was a kid!
I was just talking to my son's early interventionist the other day. I had told her about Access 2 Entertainment. Anyway, she had mentioned to me that Air Canada has a program where the caregiver FLIES for free when taking someone with a disability on vacation! I thought that was huge! :excited:
here is the info on air canada http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelin...attendant.html
I haven't flown in probably that long, too! I'm kind of a homebody! haha... Whoever told my Early Interventionist about it, flew from Halifax to Calgary with her child... to visit her other child.... and saved about $1000. :)
Edited to say... I just looked over the form. Thank you for posting it Hollywood1818! :)

HERE'S ANOTHER ONE ..... For those who plan on visiting Ripley's Aquarium in Toronto. Here is the repsonse I got when I contacted them.
Thank you for your interest in visiting Ripley's Aquarium of Canada!
Our current "attendant policy" states when the person with disabilities pays their entrance fee their attendant/care giver will get complimentary access to the Aquarium. Our regular ticket prices are adult $29.98, youth (6-13) $19.98, child (3-5) $9.98, seniors (65+) $19.98 - plus HST.
If your child doesn't want to enter we can make sure that your ticket will be valid for a year from the date of purchase so that you can try another time.
I like this part they added: "If your child doesn't want to enter we can make sure that your ticket will be valid for a year from the date of purchase so that you can try another time" ....because sometimes you just don't know what's going to happen once you get to the gate.
