Was cooking up some pasta tonight for a casserole and noticed something different it actually has an expiry. Looked at a couple other pasta bags of Primo and nothing so must be new. And to all of you who make fun of us stock pilling people it is good till 2013

I think it's because there's a Healht Canada limit to how much trans-fats and stuff that can be added to foods, which have typically acted as a form of preservatives (or gelled fats). I could be wrong, but I thought I heard something about this a little while back

Maybe business is slow and they need people to toss what they have and buy more!
I read an article in our paper a week or two ago that said pasta has a shelf life of 3 years.

It actually has even less of a shelf life if it's whole wheat pasta. I found that out the hard way, yuck.

Even white rice has a shelf life. Found out the hard way too. Ew!
Also, even if stuff seems good, we need to be careful because foods lose certain vitamins after a while, especially when exposed to light and air.
I do try to keep things rotating. Personally, I'd rather consume anything within a year. I like fresh stuff.
