I think the $4 price tags will make people compare prices a little more

I think it's a huge mistake. I never used to look at he price tags in dollarama. Rarely were my items over $2.50. So is browse and grab. Now I could hit well over $60-$80 doing that. So j pay way more attention. Not to mention so much of their stuff is just crap. I didn't mind buying the kids a toy there while we're out but not anymore. I'm not paying $3-$4 for a piece of junk that will fall apart. And half the toys are cheaper from Walmart! Toy cars cheaper! Anyway bad move in my opinion. Won't be getting much business from me anymore. So many big box stores have comparable BETTER stuff. I bought a bunch of party decorations for my boys birthday only to find stuff CHEAPER and nicer at Walmart. So lesson learned.

Clorox wipes orange scented were I think were $2 or $2.50.
Watch by next year they will hit the $5 mark. They will most likely
stop there for a while if it affects there sales. I thought they were to start accepting credit cards but it sounds like this is Toronto only.

^^There was a $5 store in Scarborough a couple of years ago. Everything in there was $5. They didn't even last a year.
I remember BiWay stores. They were not dollarama, but were kinda of the same thing..mostly under $10. They often had seconds or discontinued products plus regular stock. Then stuff just started creeping up in price and to $20 and more. They, suddenly, were gone.
i used to buy lots of things for my donated 'kids' swag bags at dollorama, but I have had to start shopping around, because of both quality and price.
Having said that, I will still keep reading all the posts here, and popping in to the dollarama, when looking for a little something. I really appreciate all the posts, and the pics, especially anything about Disney products. A big thank you to everyone who posts their finds here.
I didn't mind the $3 hike at Dollarama at all, because it brought with it some more variety and more interesting items that were worth $3
The $4 seems like it is a result of simple price raises that aren't bringing anything new or exciting to the store.
I like the unexpected deals at Dollarama, not the items that are $1 and $2 that are also the exact same price at every other store.
In Quebec (not sure about other provinces) I've noticed a few of the items have old prices covered by new higher prices, If I read the article rigt they must sell it to you for the lower price. http://www.opc.gouv.qc.ca/en/consume...le-etiquetage/ "What if a product has 2 different price tags? The merchant must sell you the product at the lower price. In point of fact, when 2 prices can apply to the same good, it is the lower price that prevails."
Some of the $4 dollar items I saw yesterday were AMAZING!
