I am thankful that you can learn a great deal on here. Some of the younger people remind us of the joys of having young children & some of the mature people remind us that we need to count our blessings for other reasons.
I wish you all health, happiness & please continue to share your inspirations here.

Thanks for your support all.
I've been trying to point out to my six year old DS how you need to be grateful for what you have because things can change so quickly and many people would feel very lucky to have what we do, but he doesn't quite get it yet. He is envious when kids have more toys, or can do something better than he can, etc. and doesn't really understand he's very fortunate to be in the boat he is. He has two loving parents, he never has to go hungry, he has a house and a yard, he has a big honkin' college fund (I get why he doesn't understand that yet).
I pointed out about his Grammie today, that maybe he should be thankful that he can walk rather than being in a wheelchair and reliant on others to even go to the bathroom. He hasn't quite grasped that yet, says if he had an injury he'd be in the same boat so it doesn't count. But well, he's six, he doesn't get a lot of things.Last edited by Zonny; Sun, Jul 22nd, 2012 at 05:16 PM.

I am thankful that I have my license. DH is fasting (Ramadan) and since it was too hot to cook (28 degrees, no a/c) I piled the kids in the van and had dinner out with them. I've always been a passenger, and thought I'd hate driving myself and the kids around, but now I have come to appreciate the freedom you have to be able to pack & go with the kids when you feel like it, not when or IF dh feels like it.
Also thankful that in another hour, my dh can have something to eat & drink... Ramadan is hard in long hot days like we have been having! The average dog

I'm thankful for some rain today. My dh was telling me that when he came back from the states, each state he drove through looked like a desert. Extremely dry. The news is full of the elderly having so much trouble, some have even died from the heat. I only wish there was some small way to help these people.

Thankful to all of you who will continue to keep the faith & keep what is truly important front & centre.
Well you dear people out there in Smart Canuck Land, Loocie is going to be away for awhile so I am letting you know just in case someone happens to wonder where I toddled off to.
I have things happening that need my attention & it is time for me to attend to them.
I will be back as soon as I can & I want you all to know that I will be thinking of you all!
Take good care & please remember your manners & be kind to one another.
How could I not part without leaving you all a poem? Albeit a revamped one, but my sentiments remain the same.
It’s nearly my forth anniversary of being a so called Smart Canuckette,
Sometimes I wonder what I am doing but I haven’t figured that out yet,
I chatter, I natter & I sometimes post pics,
I prattle, seen battle & talked about flicks,
Sometimes I say just what’s on my mind,
Even wrote prose about things that are lined,
Upon reflecting about things I’ve learned here,
It is a place where so many have come to endear,
We’ve had our differences & the occasional kerfuffle,
& times when we should have all opted to muffle,
We’ve had many join us & blend nicely into our little fold,
We’ve have folks who were banned for being too bold,
We’ve had loss; we’ve had triumphs & some very lucky winners,
We’ve given tips & welcomed many Smart Canuck beginners,
Some of our regulars have gone & we miss them dearly,
& that is a statement that I make more sincerely,
Your resident poet sometimes thinks about retiring,
But I keep coming back, cause you’re all so inspiring,
I certainly didn’t intend to post daily at such a feverish pitch,
& being a Smart Canuck has certainly not made me rich,
Thanks to you all for always knowing the right things to say,
As sometimes we all need a boost to brighten our day,
Although this place has seen a number of changes,
We still come here for our pleasant exchanges,
I think I have likely said so much more than enough,
Now off you all go & stick to the usual stuff!
Love,
Loocie

For my friend and family. I'm thankful to be alive and to know the difference between the little things and the things that are important in life, the things to worry about and the things that are simply inccidental.

Thinking of my Dad today, and feeling very thankful and grateful that I had him as a father.
It's his birthday today - he would have been 92 (I can't imagine him at that age!), but he passed away at 66. Now that I'm 51, 66 seems SO young to die...
I'm thankful for having had his love, for all the lessons he taught me, for all of the things he instilled in me, for helping me become the woman that I am. He was very, very stern sometimes, but had the heart of a teddy bear. He was so dearly loved by so many, and accomplished so much in his lifetime.
This wonderful laughing face says it all....
Aw, and I wasn't gonna cry.... it's just so hard to believe it's been 26 years since he's gone and I still miss him so very much...
