I'm seriously feeling blessed that we weren't caught in this storm in NY, and heading there in a week and a half...with mass transit shut down we'd be stuck in NJ at our hotel with only our car to take us into town...and I'm guessing the Broadway shows are cancelled? What a lousy trip that would have been, and probably IS for so many other tourists as well as the locals....

I am thankful that I am a fighter!!!!
Cancer moves in quietly & always without permission,
It is the goal of its victims to send it into permanent remission,
It is cursed, it is merciless, it invades so invasive,
It is harsh; it is cruel, so savage & abrasive,
It has no shame, no mercy & it cheats victims of all ages,
So we must pick up the gauntlet as it quietly rages,
It can make one so angry, so feeble & entirely ballistic,
But it can’t steal your hope & your trust to remain optimistic,
We all know the story & the many chapters in the cancer story,
& it has nothing redeeming & if has no glory,
But, it can be fought & discussed, as it needs to be vented,
& the sorrow we feel is justifiably lamented,
Incredible people who are merely living their lives,
Are so caught off guard, as uninvited it arrives,
Goodhearted people, our family, our neighours & beloved friends,
All wishfully longing for cancer to please make amends,
One cannot endure this albatross from way back in the bleachers,
So many variances & types with many different features,
Keeping the hope, the faith & sharing your dossier with others,
Helps keep you sane & hold onto your druthers,
Don’t think about blame, or fuss about fault,
I’d like to triple lock that monster securely in a non opening vault!

Lil, that sounds great!
I'm thankful today that our family members in the Eastern US were not badly affected by the storms there; they are okay.

Back in September my youngest started kindergarten. I found out that her class didn't get funding to have a teacher's aide so I thought as a sahm I'd step up and volunteer in the class. Not something I really wanted to do (I kind of don't like most kids
), but then something happened....I loved it. Completely unexpected and surprised the heck out of me. A month later funding came through and they got a paid teacher's aide so I dropped my volunteering down to 2 days. During the past month I've built up a friendship with the aide and she encouraged me to think about applying to be a teacher's aide next year. This week I found out she's being transferred and her position at my kids' school is now open. The teacher, the aide and the ladies at the office all encouraged me to apply. So I applied for it!! Even if I don't get it I won't be disappointed (at least not too much). I've been...stressed isn't the right word but I've been...lost. Both kids start school fulltime next year and I have been racking my brain about what to do, my old career was very unfriendly to the family and I desperately want a family friendly job...and I never in a million years would have looked in this direction and even if I don't get this job I can apply next year (maybe find out what things I can do to improve my chances and take some action to do it). So heres to trying something new, something you don't think you'll like...and to finding out something you didn't know about yourself.

Hey jaybird that is great you enjoy the teacher aide work. I know you can take the course online through Red Deer college so I am sure Lethbridge would offer something. I know the TA's around here that have learned sign language are always in demand as well. good luck!

I am thankful Halloween is over - I love it, dont get me wrong, but I quickly got tired of going to the door every few minutes - it interfered with my face booking and movie - LOL
And now to start thinking of that big huge holiday thats about 7-8 weeks away (not gonna say it out loud but it rhymes with dristmas...). Gotta figure out what Im gonna do for decor and get the kids jump started on their wish list. The average dog

Thankful that for the 1st time i have not heard of any weird stuff (needles, pills, e.t.c) stuck in kids candies this year. Now if Halloween can be like this all the time our kids would be safe and we can enjoy the holiday.

I am thankful I got my cover letter and resume in to the office here - applying for a job on my reserve. I have worked 16 years off and would like to try and get a job that doesnt require a 30 minute commute to and from work. I hope I at least get an interview...
