We want you for the 2011 SOUTHGATE Stylist Search!!

The first place candidate will be awarded:

• A $7500* contract as our 2011 Southgate Stylist
• Exposure to a new level of media and clientele
• $1000 in Southgate Gift Cards to boost your own wardrobe
• Styling input in an Avenue magazine photo shoot (for your portfolio!)
• A position as the featured blogger for SouthgateCentre.com

And all of the finalists in the Southgate Style Search will gain more media exposure, more contacts and networking opportunities, and a professional video reel for their portfolio.

How do you apply?
Submit your resume, portfolio, and a cover letter explaining why you think you should style Edmonton to [email protected]or in person at the Southgate Admin Office (Upstairs next to Flower Affairs) by April 2, 2011.
From these applicants, finalists will be announced on Wednesday, April 6th (finalists must be available April 8th and 9th).

Finalists will be judged on:

• Fashion Sense
• Customer Service Skills and Experience
• Attention to Detail
• Personality
• Voting on Facebook and Twitter**

** Tell everyone you know to vote for you online! Rally your whole network! The more people that get behind you, the better it looks to the judges. **
This is where it gets interesting.
The finalists will then engage in a series of Stylist Challenges:
Finalist Challenge #1: Bring Your Style to Life
In the open air, finalists will style two mannequins – one for a 25-35 year old look, one for a woman aged 40-50. This challenge will be carried out in front of customers, judges, and the general public.
Finalist Challenge #2: 15 Minutes of Fame
Here’s your chance to shine for the big screen (well, LCD screens, anyway). In video interviews, each stylist will be asked a number of questions about their craft. Confidence, a solid understanding of your profession, and quick thinking will be critical here.
Finalist Challenge #3: Blog Post Challenge – Week of April 11th
In our Stylist Search Blog Post Challenge, each finalist will be asked to respond, in 500 words or less, to the same question surrounding what it means to be a good stylist. (As you’ll be the voice of the Southgate blog if you are the winner, this is a pretty important challenge.)
Finalist Challenge #4: Style the Judges – Week of April 18th
Here is where style, personality, and the real world come together. Judges will be a cross section of high-profile Edmonton professionals in fashion, media, and retail. Finalists must call the judge, make an appointment, and conduct the session as they normally would with a real client. Just relax and have fun with this one!
Judges will meet to discuss winners on Friday, April 22nd
Winners will be announced the week of April 25th.
