So I tried out the new coupon policy this evening at Walmart here in Edmonton and this is how it went down
Purchased 8 Olay Hand lotions (trial size) for $1.57 each. Used the $5 off WUB2 coupon from brandsaver insert. Bought $5 Bag of Peatmoss as well to account for the possible overage if all went as planned.
The cashier looked at me with a blank expression when I explained how to use them, hehe, so she asked another cashier who also was having a difficult time understanding what I meant by "the overage could be used towards my purchase". They brought the manager over who indeed knew what I was talking about and said to let me go ahead, but did have an issue with the coupon stating one coupon per purchase until I pointed out there is a limit of 4 coupons per transaction. I ended up being credited the overage to my purchase and got my entire purchase FREE!!!
The thing that made me embarrassed is they all started chatting about the show 'extreme couponers' going on about my transaction and comparing it to that...come on! I only bought 9 items!
Anyhow it worked out better than I had expected, however I do foresee having to go through this same routine everytime, due to the fact that walmart has too many employees....so be prepared. I didn't bring the new coupon policy with me but it couldn't hurt.

Thanks for letting us know. This is so awesome. For the longest time I was trying to figure out how to lower my grocery bill on the milk, bread etc the overage will be great for these items. I can't wait to try it this Friday.

I didn't know they changed their policy. I haven't been on the forum much in the past few weeks so must have missed it.
Can someone please recap what the changes are?

It's okay. I came across the new policy thread when searching for something else.

I am not sure what their old policy was, but here is the revised one:

One thing I do know is the overage going in the customers pocket/purchase is new.

Here's the new coupon policy everyone has been talking about http://forum.smartcanucks.ca/194986-...ck-out-canada/. It is different than the coupon policy mentioned by Edmonton Christine - it is BETTER! It says it WILL accept competitor's coupons. Anyone brave enough to try a coupon zone one there??
