ooopppsss silly me - my answers to the poll could
be troublesome
all i can say is "I LOVE THE ZOO" and so do my kids!
i sort of love the zoo, too
but years ago i thought these animals are in the
wrong envionment - so stopped looking
I like Zoo's also, but I think, we should be leaving the animals where they are, unless in danger.. But I am a strong believer..to leave them.. I would not like to be captured, caged, and put ina cage where 100's of people can view me..
is it just me or does bob barker look alot older than he did when he hosted the price is right. i knew he was old, but he looks like he's had decades thrown on him since I last saw him on tv. maybe it's just that he wasn't wearing make-up...
anyways. zoos are fun. I don't have any problem with them as much as ppl who choose to keep pets.
A lot of the price is right is re-runs, back 10-15+ yrs.
Unless it's HURTING the animals, I don't see a problem. Like sticking a polar bear in mexico would be a stupid choice.. I don't know if Elephants are capable of keeping themselves warm?
I'm not a fan of zoo's, so IDK..
I think Bob Barker needs to mind his own business, especially about Lucy the elephant at Edmonton's Valley Zoo...she has been there her entire life, and WILL DIE if they try moving her to California.
Just my opinion.
I think Bob Barker looks a lot like Drew Carey lately.
He just needs to stick to telling people to spay & neuter their pets.
I heard something about the reason being their feet aren't made for the weather or something? lol.. mmmhm.. so then that means every zoo that has cold winters should send their elephants to california... see that he picked california... why not florida? lol..hmm.. i dunno.
I think he should go back to the USA and enjoy retirement and stop pestering people.
Zoo's are there to have animals that aren't from the area and educate.
unless the animals are being abused I don't see a reason why they should go.
I haven;t been to a zoo [the toronto one no less] since I was 9 but i loved seeing the elephants, peacocks, flamingos, polar bears, and komodo dragons. If they weren't there then there's no point in going, right?
The problem is that if it weren't for zoos, a lot of animals would be extinct.
The Toronto Zoo ran a program to save the black footed ferret (I think that's what the little critters were called). They were all but extinct in the wild, but thanks to their program (& the half dozen inhabitants of the zoo), their offspring have been reintroduced to the wild & are doing well.
I do wish folks would understand the difference (& it is a HUGE difference) between animal *rights* & animal *welfare*. Sigh.
i'm not too sure about the education argument for zoos. i can see how zoos try to educate people on animals and the environment through their shows, info-boards, printed material, etc. It's certainly obvious that they are trying... but does anyone really make use of them? Sure, it makes a good field-trip spot for students, but I think the entertainment value of the zoo far overshadows the educational value by far... even if this wasn't the intention.
Ok. just stop the ignorance, white fur seals have been protected for over 20 years. As much as I like Paul this is absolute ignorant propaganda on their part. Of course the americans believe every word of it. Do they even know they were USED!!! and made to look like idiots. If you are going to promote a cause at least do it right.
