I have ordered lots of times from Amazon and never been charged duty. The return address on the package is in Canada, so they must have a warehouse they ship from here, so that it does not come across the border.

I have ordered several times from amazon.ca and that ships from canada. My husband says amazon.com ships from the states. I think the duties fees depend on the value of the item and the brokerage fees depend on the company that it ships with. for example a lot of people say ups has expensive brokerage fees. i think usps is supposed to be verry low because it is run by the government.

I'd put my bet on you would be paying taxes/duties.
If you are ordering from .com it should be coming from a US warehouse.
I don't chance it, anything .com I send to my US post office and bring it across the boarder myself.

I have only ever ordered books from Amazon.com and I have never paid duty.
I do know that Amazon.com is opening a new warehouse in Canada soon.

No, you don't have to pay duty on electronics. You will be required to pay Canadian sales taxes, but you'd have to pay that if you purchased in Canada anyway so it's not really an extra fee. With smaller stuff (like an inexpensive point and shoot), you might even get lucky and not have to pay sales taxes.
