I'll go first. This year they are getting about a dozen little ones and a trip to see a Nascar race for the weekend.
Usually they get about two dozen little ones and a medium size one to share.

This year is really tight, but we try to get them a bunch of little ones. We spend about $300 on each. But this year cuz we started SOO late it'll be so much smaller. I don't think they'll care to much though. They are far to young to really care that much. But we're going to try to stay around $200 each including stocking stuffers.
Wish us luck... stuff is so expencive!!

I must be a cheapskate!
Baby J. gets 1 gift that's worth about $50 if as much.
No need for anything more than that- he's only 2.
Even when he gets older- he's going to have a hard time trying to get anything more expensive than that. He can save up his own money and buy what he wants if he has a problem with what we get him.
This year he's getting some Thomas the Tank Engine stuff and an Easy Bake oven that we got on sale from Toys R Us.

Oh yeah..... both items add up to the $50 and we count it as one gift.

My son gets one gift the night before which is pj's that he can wear to bed, one big gift then and outfit and a toy from his sister. Baby is getting baby stuff car seat snoe suit and such . She willget pj's a big gift and and outfit( snowsuit) and a toy from her brother We rty to do the same for all the grand kids but my sister thinks it is a competiton and her boys get about 4-5 SANTA gifts plus about 3-4 from their parents then a gift to eachother. I don't think that is right but i am younger so i can't tell my sis what to do LOL. I think x-mas is about giving from the heart and you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars just to make it special, my x-mas budget is about maybe $500.00. Stuff on sale is the best ever

I went a little crazy this year but it was Hayden's first Christmas so I just couldn't help it ...lol... I got a pile of peek-a-blocks when they were half price at Toys R Us, a Mega Block Wizard of Oz Castle (was clearing out half price at TRU), a Pooh Knows Your Name (again on sale) and the Fisher Price farm with the animal noises and a few little other things. I hit the sales in October so I could get more things so I was proud of myself for doing it right the first time around
I had so much fun and there were so many deals I even ended up buying stuff the whole family gave him (yay for KidsFutures credit cards-making money while spending money..lol)....I made up for my organization for his birthday though-I thought if I waited til Boxing Day I would get great deals for his Birthday. I had NO idea there was a freakish shortage of toys after Christmas that lasted months !! It took me days and many many phonecalls til I finally tracked down a return for his birthday gift-the Fisher Price Bounce and Spin Zebra....
to date his favourite toy is the Laugh and Learn Chair from Fisher Price...Christmas gift from my parents and WOW it is waaay more amazing then I ever thought it could be... !!!!

This year we are getting my son(3 years) dress up outfits(half price halloween costumes) a pirate, fireman, and cars mechanic, pairing each outfit up with a matching themed book or two(free amazon gcs), and also a matching themed dvd (free amazon gcs). Each will be a different present. We will probably buy twoish more gifts after that for him and some stalking stuffers.

This is the first year my daughter will actually understand opening presents (shes 2) so I think its safe to say....we are going all out LOL.
Her birthday is in a few days and I probably won't get her anything (toy wise) because her cake will cost me about 200$ to make....and she will get gifts from others but on Christmas we usually spoil the heck out of her.
My family (parents) don't do Christmas gifts (we give them gifts but they dont get us anything, and they give my daughter a present) so really...anything she gets comes from us.

We get DS 2-3 presents that maybe cost $50, and our family do the rest.... I have a pretty large family who love buying for him, and he's the only grandchild on DH's side of the family, so he gets a tad spoiled come the holidays!

I'm a cheapskate too Julie Andrews! My DS is only five, if he has a few little things to open he's happy as a clam. I doubt I've spent $50 on Christmas for him yet. Usually it's one bigger thing (in the past it's been a Tonka vehicle or a racetrack type thing for his hotwheels cars).
However, last night he told me what he's going to ask Santa for. An iPod. I'm like, um, Santa might not bring that. But a lot of his five year old friends already have them! A $200 toy for a five year old?
I was thinking about getting him a Nintendo DS, but that's over $150, still a lot for someone who's only five IMO. I have a Futureshop GC that I got with my credit card points so it won't be much OOP, but still.Last edited by Zonny; Fri, Nov 4th, 2011 at 09:03 AM.

we've always told our kids you should only ask Santa for 2 maybe 3 things...or else he will think you're greedy and make not bring anything at all.
when they are little they have no concept of money, and little kids like opening several instead of one BIG ONE........just be happy

I'm really trying to scale back this year with $100 for both combined. But I will probably cash out Airmiles for a few gifts and also use my Optimum pts to get stocking stuffers. I fill the advent calender with little dollarstore treats and toys. The boys have a big train table that I invested in a few years ago(best thing I ever did IMO), so maybe a few new pieces for that. New Christmas jammies, and an outfit, a few new books, a few movies.
