went to walmart today with coupons in tow...
got 18 travel Olays for free plus overage
6 sm. Nexus conditioners =free ($3 plus $3 coupon zone)=someone got all shampoos which would have been overages for me.

??? free cones coupon from ceral boxes?? they would not give me the overage so I said no thanks will use elsewhere. How have people been able to use them and get the full $5 when it says up to $5 but they put in the price of product? so cones oly $1 so thats all they would give me.

used up alot of coupons expiring end of May

    total saved $117

The ice cream coupons are not supposed to be used for overages because it clearly states "up to $5". Some cashiers have done it incorrectly and that is why some people have had overages.

    But $117 is good savings

I was at SDM last night and the lady in front of me had two ice creams at $3.99 each. She kept on about the coupon saying that the cashier had to take the whole $5 off. The cashier explained to her (and pointed out) a couple times that the coupon states 'up to $5 value'. Well this woman in a rude voice says to the cashier, "Are you the manager? No? Well, then I want to speak to the manager and don't be talking to that customer about me." Well, I believe the manager let the lady have the full value of the coupon because when the lady (and her drama) left the store she gave a big smile to the cashier that clearly said, "yeah, screw you." I couldn't believe a 30ish aged woman, who looked pretty put together would cause such a scene for the few cents she saved. I would have been embarrassed if I (or my kids) had behaved that way. I have used my ice cream coupons... I know they have only taken off the value of the ice cream (as stated) and not the full $5... is this right... ABSOLUTELY!!!!!

REALLY? how hard is it to understand this coupon...it is to be redeemed for UP TO $5!!! Therefore, if your icecream is $2.99, you will get $2.99 taken off your bill, NOT $5! THAT IS WHY THERE IS A SPACE FOR THE CASHIER TO FILL IN THE PRICE OF THE ITEM!

Even then, at SDM, she wouldn't have been entitled to overages.

Wingnuts like that are the reason shopping with coupons can be so difficult for the rest of us.

    Great brag!

Yeah, I think the brags that were posted about how they were allowed the $5 overage has really confused people.
If I was behind that lady in Wm, I would have been laughing my butt off. LOL. It's not that hard of a concept to comprehend...

Great brag! The ice cram coupon is up to $5 so, you should be getting the full $5 for the cones. $117 is a great savings though! WTG

No, it's 'up to'. That means you get 'up to' $5 back.

She would have only been entitled to an overage if the coupon said, '$5 off'.

The ice cream coupon is an FPC, but it's only free up to $5.

Just like the Stouffers coupon that said free up to 6-something, you don't get the overages back for that, it's a free product up to the value stated on the coupon (which is basically nothing more than a size limitation) or you could elect to use the FPC on a more expensive ice cream and pay whatever the difference was. You don't get overage from that coupon, you never get overages for FPCs.

Unfortunately more wingnuts are popping up everywhere. I saw one yesterday in another lane and just cringed at her arguing when she was clearly wrong.

I agree that the coupons are "up to" $5 NOT $5 off and you should not get overages. Wal-Mart should only get back the amount from the company that they are selling the product for. To get the best value for your coupons, get ice cream that is as close to $5 as possible, or some delicious waffle cones!

I bought premium ice cream with my first ice cream coupon and I've got my eye on some green tea Haagen Dazs for the next one.
