Thread: FPC and taxes

On a SDM thread there was talk about FPC and tax. What is the regulation on this and who charges tax and who doesn't. I want to get my free chocolate bar, gingerale and hair die. In NL we have it even worse as we pay $0.08 on every single drink container (except milk). So with my FPC for 10 juice boxed I had to pay $0.80 in enviro tax.

Does it say on the coupons that taxes are included in the face value? If it does, you can bring them to any store and just let the cashier know at the beginning of your transaction.
If not, your best bet is to bring them to Walmart (along with a printed copy of their policy) because it's in their official policy now that they don't charge tax on FPCs. Another option is to bring a copy of the Revenue Canada's guidelines (There's a thread about them on the top of the coupon forum.) to any store, or just pay the taxes and then bring it to the attention of that store's Head Office, along with a copy of the CRA guidelines.
