Image heavy post!
These are pictures of some of the goodies growing in the garden as of yesterday
Patio cherry tomato blooms
My over crowded corner "garden", beside the house. There are two tomato plants (left) that I grew from seeds from a store tomato. I'm 90% sure they'll fruit..hehe.
My Little Marvel peas have flowered and are now growing tummy peas!
Peeking at the tomatoes in my actual garden bed...which is overly crowded. lol I totally disregarded what the packages said in terms of spacing.
Roma tomatoes! Yum!
Marglobe tomatoes :>
Jalapeno peppers!! The one of the right was taken last week, the one on the right was yesterday. Same pepper, but look how much it's grown!
Swiss Chard that I bought as babies from Canadian Tire. 4 for $1! I haven't harvested these yet.. I probably should though.
I forgot to take pictures of my red/green bell peppers, my egg plants are growing slowly, as are my watermelon/pumpkins and alpine strawberries. Nothing exciting happening to those guys yet!

No, no!! I'm not a murderer, honest! I'd never actually engage in hand-to-creepy-legs combat with those things! I can't even step on an ant for heaven's sake and am teaching our dear Grandson the same thing...even our Jenny, lol..she dives around the grass at those little white moth thingies and I tell her, "No, Jenny...they have as much right to be here as you..." Naturally she completely ignores me because being a dominant species she feels rules don't apply to her.
But I do delight in sprinkling diatomacious earth around the house, doorways, and imagining the little critters trying to get into our house and drying up and dying. I mean...outside is one thing: inside is quite another!! Of course, if a moth comes in, I catch it in a tissue and let it fly away outside..and so does my hubby. Now.
Janette, your garden is in about the same state of growth as ours is...although I did see a pea just about ready to pick! Our beans are still little matchsticks, but they're out there and omg, innundated with zucchini!! So freezer bags are on my grocery list: zucchini cake....mmmmmm...esp in the dead of winter. I'll have too many little cherry tomatoes again this year, so our neighbours will be happy...lol...
Aren't gardens fun? And we have such a little plot, but omg, it's so abundant! I have to pick our sage soon to keep it from growing wild (does it?) and the fennel and tarragon...and parsley...I picked off the dill heads although for the life of me I don't know how to use them except for pickling...which I don't do...but the rest of the plants should be encouraged now to produce more dill fluffages...
Sorry...did I just hi-jack this thread?

So the dirt came from an elevated garden in the back which is now the first pic. The second pic. is the work in progress and the final one done!

Gorgeous sanctuary you have there, Patty!!!
Jays my daylilies are just about to unfold...maybe I can get a few pics of them, too and post them if they don't turn out as huge as some I try to post! I'm anxious for one of them called: "Wild Horses"...I just love them!!
Do you know the name of the lily you posted, Hon?

What a job, Patty! And the results are stunning. Do you use anything under the cedar mulch to prevent the weeds from coming through?
Janetta, your photos are superb!
GoJays, I just love the coloring of your daylily.
You're doing much better than I am, recessionisnotfun. 4 out of 8 of my tomato plants are not well. For some reason the leaves are curling upwards and the bottoms of the tomatoes are rotting. Too much water? Not enough? Can't figure out what's going on. The other 4 are doing wonderfully. My pole and bush beans don't look so healthy either. Leaves are a very pale green and they're growing awfully slow.
The zucchini on the other hand is producing like mad. Watermelon, pumpkin, and cantaloupe are going to take over a good portion of the yard pretty soon, lol. I can't wait!
I also picked up enough beets this morning to pickle at least 3 jars worth. Only thing I certainly didn't plant enough of was Romaine lettuce. Dh and the boys want to eat it every night and I only have about 10 left. Anyone know if it's too late to plant more seeds?~RRLF $0.75 Organic Meadow, $1 Almond Fresh~

recessionisnotfun: I knew your garden would do great
So glad to hear!
snuffaluffagus: Thank you! Sounds like your tomato might have blossom end rot..might want to google that. If so, you gotta get some calcium in the soil to help them out! How often do you water your tomatoes? Keep in mind your plants also need to get fed fertilizer if you're not doing that yet. Hopefully that'll help!
I wish I had planted zucchini this year! Jealous of your watermelon/pumpkins, mine aren't growing much at all.. lol
