National Road Safety Week Kicks Off Today

A big heads up for drivers – it’s National Road Safety Week in Canada. Police across the country will be out in full force looking for the so-called "four killers." They include: aggressive driving, impaired, not wearing of seat belts and distracted driving. National road safety week runs through the long weekend until Monday, May 22nd.

Jagmeet Singh Launches Bid For Federal NDP Leadership

Ontario MPP Jagmeet Singh launched a potentially historic bid Monday to make the leap from provincial politics to head up the federal NDP, with a speech heavy on themes of equality and social justice. If Singh is successful, he would be the first non-Caucasian to helm a major federal party. The Toronto-born Singh grew up partly in Newfoundland and Labrador and in Windsor, and currently holds the Bramalea-Gore-Malton riding. He joins Peter Julian, Charlie Angus, Niki Ashton and Guy Caron as the official candidates in the race to replace Tom Mulcair.

Kessel Ties Series For Penguins

The Ottawa Senators had the Pittsburgh Penguins exactly where they wanted them - until they didn’t. Game 2 played out in the Sens favor until Phil Kessel's winner helped the Penguins to a series tying, 1-0 victory. The 1-1, Eastern Conference final shifts to Ottawa for Game 3.
