OPP launch seat belt enforcement campaign

The OPP is gearing up to crack down on anyone not wearing seat belts. Officers will be zeroing in on those not buckled up starting this morning, right through to October 6th -- all as part of the province wide Fall seat belt campaign. The latest blitz comes as provincial police report 29 seat belt related road deaths across the province already this year. Anyone caught not wearing a seat belt is looking at a fine anywhere from two hundred dollars to a thousand, along with two demerit points.

TD Bank has issued a report warning that Ontario’s plan to hike the minimum wage to 15 dollars an hour will cost the economy 80 to 90-thousand jobs by 2020. The finding comes in an economic analysis that says despite the losses, Ontario’s economy will continue to grow -- but at a slower rate of 0.5 per cent annually.
