Ride sharing app for women rolls into Toronto

The latest ride sharing app to park in Toronto, starts up tomorrow and it’s strictly for women. DriveHER will join a number of ride-sharing apps already rolling on Toronto streets, including Uber and Lift. Over 100 female drivers have already signed up. The app is touting itself as an alternative for women who may otherwise feel uncomfortable or unsafe to ride in male-driven vehicles.

Bid submitted for Toys “R” Us Canada by California toy company

A California-based toy company says it is bidding for the Canadian operations of Toys “R” Us Inc., the U.S. industry giant that entered court protection from creditors last September. MGA Entertainment Inc. confirmed in an email Tuesday it has submitted a bid for the Canadian stores. Toys R Us Canada maintains it's still business as usual. Even though its U.K. counterpart announced it would soon be closing all 75 locations, Toys R Us Canada's Vice-President of Marketing and Store Planning Clint Gaudry confirmed its 82 Canadian stores will remain open for business. The Canadian arm filed for creditor protection in September, a day after the U.S. division filed for bankruptcy.
