GTA under rainfall warning; power outages continue after ice storm

The city is currently under a rainfall warning. Both the wind warning and freezing rain warning have been lifted though. A heads up for commuters -- the main roads are plowed and salted and for the most part, it’s business as usual. But side streets are an icy, slushy mess so you might want to get out a little earlier than usual -- not to mention the 5-10 minutes you'll definitely need to clear off your car. As for power outages -- Toronto Hydro is still working tirelessly to get all customers back up to speed. At last check, ten thousand customers were still in the dark -- much better than the 44-thousand without power during the peak of yesterday’s storm.

School closures, bus cancellations in GTA

The school closures and bus cancellations are coming in fast and furious this morning. The weather is to blame for a lengthy list of them too. In the city -- all schools are open but there is no bus service thanks to the weather. The situation is the same for York and Durham regions. Things are a little worse north of the city --all schools in Halton, Peel and Dufferin-Peel are closed for the day. Officials out at Pearson Airport are still working to clear the back log from yesterday. Any air travellers headed out this morning are being asked to check the status of their flights ahead of time, as many flights have been re-scheduled following a number of cancellations over the weekend. More than 100 flights have been affected. Saving grace when coming in to work, not having to deal with school buses.

Maple Leafs return home for game 3 against Bruins

The Maple Leafs will try and climb out of a 2-0 hole tonight as they resume their Eastern Conference quarter final with the Bruins. The series shifts to Toronto for game three at Air Canada Centre and head coach Mike Babcock is optimistic that will get his team going. Leo Komorav is out with a lower body injury -- so too is Nazem Kadri, who continues to serve a three game suspension. GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The rain has finally stopped here. What a mess. I guess the contract for the snow plowing was up the 1st of April, cause our driveway at work hadn't been plowed this morning. Trying to drive thru 6' of snow, ice & water to park was fun. Dang stuff is heavy. Took a half hour to clear the stuff from the front 3' x 6' entry way.
