Not sure what the rest of areas were like yesterday, but the rain & T-showers seemed to miss Milton. Twice this week that the dark clouds came by & a light mist came down, but no real showers to speak of. The rain & darkness blew by to south east.

Ontario government to dramatically cut Toronto city council size

The Ontario government is set to introduce legislation that will see the number of Toronto city council seats cut dramatically in the upcoming municipal election. A published report suggests the provincial government will table a bill as early as Monday to trim Toronto city council from 47 seats to 25. Both Premier Doug Ford and Mayor John Tory -- who says he had a “very animated conversation”' with Ford last night -- will hold news conferences this morning where they are expected to discuss the reported plan. Opposition leader Andrea Horwath says Ford has “cooked up a backroom plot to use his new power to meddle in municipal elections”' and to “make it easier for him to control Toronto city hall.” Tory will hold a news conference at 8:15am to address the plan -- Ford will speak at 9am. Today is the deadline to file nomination papers for the mayoral race. Potential candidates will have until 2pm today. Municipal voters head to the polls in October.

Ontario set to privatize legal cannabis sales, reports say

The provincial Tories also plan on privatizing pot. The current plan to give the LCBO a monopoly on the sale of pot will be scrapped, according to reports out this morning. The new plan would mirror the Alberta model, which allows for privately owned stores to sell marijuana if they carry a license from the liquor commission.

Blue Jays trade Happ to Yankees

Blue Jays fans knew it was coming and J.A. Happ is now a New York Yankee. New York acquired left-hander Happ from the Toronto for infielder Brandon Drury and minor league outfielder Bill McKinney yesterday. The Jays are in Chicago for the first of three today against the White Sox.

We all know about that awkward silence, the one that ensues when you’re suddenly in a small room with 5-10 other people you don’t know. Politeness seems to indicate that the people around you are sworn to silence, that perhaps it’s rude to break the sacred silence that is the lift ride. Just got back from the hospital. The doc says I'm healing okay. Have to go back in three months. I should go to physio but ODSP won't cover the cost so I can't afford to go. Oh well what can I do.
