Now that it's legal, everyone can be quiet about it now. Happy for all of you that can enjoy it legally, but very tired of hearing about it. Like prohibition, back in the day, this has been going on for eons, illegally, so it's not a bit deal for me. Rules will apply, like no drinking or smoking & driving. Marijuana is legal across Canada now
It is a milestone day for Canada -- from coast to coast recreational pot is legal for Canadians today, making Canada the first G7 nation to make this historic move. Most adult Canadians are now able to buy and use recreational cannabis legally and even grow a few plants at home, but how and where depends on where they live.
For now in Ontario you'll only be able to purchase pot online through provincially run stores. That will change in April when brick and mortar shops are fully licensed, up and running.
Proposed legislation that would allow people to smoke marijuana anywhere they can smoke cigarettes, with the exception of cars and boats, has not yet passed. Until it does, people can only legally smoke marijuana inside their own home - although something tells me that won't exactly stop people today...
Did you know?
Someone would have to smoke over 1,500 pounds of marijuana within about 15 minutes to die of a lethal overdose. In other words, dying from a weed overdose is nearly impossible.
Ottawa moves to pardon Canadians convicted of pot possession
Big news is expected from the Trudeau government later this morning. Ottawa is reportedly set to roll out pardons to any individuals with a possession record of 30 grams or less. An official news conference is scheduled for just after 9am this morning.
Raptors tip off season against Cleveland tonight
The Toronto Raptors regular season officially tips off tonight at Scotiabank Arena. The Raptors are home to the now LeBron-less Cleveland Cavillers. That’s good news for Toronto, who has been swept by the Cleveland in back to back playoffs. A lot of eyes will no doubt be on the newly acquired Kawhi Leonard.

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year but today does marks one year since legendary Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie died of brain cancer. Downie died at the age of 53 after being diagnosed back in 2016.
