Weather advisory in effect for:
- City of Toronto
Winter weather travel advisory in effect beginning this afternoon.
Snow associated with a deepening low pressure system moving up along the Eastern Seaboard of the United States will reach Southern Ontario later this afternoon. The snow is forecast to continue through tonight into early Friday morning.
A snowfall of 5 to 10 cm is expected across the region, with most of the snow falling tonight. Poor winter driving conditions are expected. Untreated roads may become snow covered and slippery.
This snowfall may have major impacts on the commute this evening as well as the commute Friday morning. Motorists should plan for extra time to reach their destination.
This is the largest snowfall event so far this season, and the first significant snowfall for many parts of the Golden Horseshoe.
The snow will become mixed with rain on Friday as temperatures edge above the zero degree mark.
Happy Friday Jr, Q sters,
Everyone ready for the 1st storm of the season? Got your winter tires on? Apparently there is a storm front coming thru this afternoon that could possibly leave 1-10cm of white stuff on the ground, depending on where you live. If you weren't scrambling to put winter tires on in the last few days, today will be a definite zoo. Take care, drive safe & pack your patience.
Winter weather travel advisory in effect for parts of GTA
The first significant winter system of the season is moving towards Toronto. We're expecting snowfall in the city by the afternoon commute. At least a couple of centimetres are expected in the city, while areas north of the GTA could see between 5 and 10 centimetres by tomorrow.
Environment Canada has launched a winter weather travel advisory, starting this afternoon.
Did you know?
Snowflakes always have six sides. The water molecules that snowflakes are made of can only fit together in a way that results in a six-sided ice crystal.
So those snowflake decorations you see with five or eight sides -- don’t buy them. You’d be breaking a law of nature...
Ontario government releases cannabis regulations for retail stores
The Ford government has released regulations that will guide the launch of private cannabis stores on April 1st. Among the rules you'll need to know:
- the stand-alone stores can be open any day between 9 a-m and 11 p-m, but they must be at least 150 metres away from schools
- anyone under the age of 19 will be denied entry
- applications for licences will begin on December 17th and illegal cannabis retailers who were operating after legalization will not be eligible.
The Ford government will release its fall economic update this afternoon and we've learned one of the key items set to be outlined:
- Ontario workers earning less than $30,000 will no longer have to pay provincial income tax starting next year, and those earning up to $38,000 will pay less tax
- sources say the tax changes will apply to 1.1 million ontario workers making minimum wage or slightly above it.

Refrigerators can be one of those kitchen appliances that are taken for granted. We only notice them when they fail to work or if a foul smell starts emanating from the interior every time we open the door.
So, don your rubber gloves, fill that bucket with warm water and get cleaning on Clean Your Refrigerator Day. You’ll thank yourself later.
Good afternoon fellow Canucks!
Ugh, snow is coming. Everyone will be driving like it was their first time driving in the snow.
But once it is here then I will be good with that. At least it will brighten things up at night and we can see pedestrians when we turn left at intersections.
Drive safely tonight folks!
