Ontario's auditor general to release annual report Wednesday

You can almost see the premier and his brass salivating as Ontario’s spending watchdog is expected to provide her latest findings of government waste and inefficiency. Auditor General Bonnie Lysyk will release her annual report at noon today but most of the findings will criticise the former Liberal government, as most of the probe was done when Kathleen Wynne was in power. She looks into whether or not Ontario tax payers are getting a good bang for their buck from 15 government programs or projects -- one of the bigger items being Metrolinx construction of the LRT.

Former presidents, world leaders to attend George H.W. Bush funeral

Washington is bidding its final farewell to former US President George H.W. Bush. Visitation at the Capitol Rotunda will end at 7am and the state funeral ceremony at Washington National Cathedral will begin at 11am, capping three days of remembrance by dignitaries and ordinary citizens alike. What might make today’s service particularly awkward -- every living American president will be on hand. Canadian mourners will include Trudeau cabinet minister Scott Brison, our US Ambassador David MacNaughton and former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney will deliver a eulogy honouring his friend. Flags on all Canadian federal buildings in both Canada and the US will be lowered today.

Matthews scores OT winner, Leafs beat Sabres

Auston Matthews scored his second goal with three seconds on the clock in overtime, and the Toronto Maple Leafs matched their best start in 84 years with a 4-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday.
