So much for talking climate change -- the prime minister was at Toronto's Danforth Music Hall last night and found himself on the defensive often just hours after one of his most trusted ministers resigned from cabinet, citing the ongoing fallout from the SNC-Lavalin affair.
Treasury Board President Jane Philpott says she's lost confidence in the way the Trudeau government has handled the matter. Today, Trudeau's long-time friend and former chief advisor, Gerald Butts, who resigned two weeks ago, will speak on the SNC-Lavalin affair before the commons justice committee.

A former top aide to the prime minister will testify in the nation’s capital today about his role in the expanding SNC-Lavalin affair.
Gerald Butts is scheduled to speak at the commons justice committee this morning and liberals are hoping he will help the government defend against accusations of political interference.
