I realized that I had enough of smoking and just simply quit. I was turing 50 that year and it was a nice round number to go for. Fortunately, I quit 7 months before I turned 50.

49 killed at 2 mosques, 1 man charged with murder in New Zealand

Shootings at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand left 49 people dead and 20 others seriously hurt on Friday. One man in his late 20s was charged with murder in connection with the incidents, the commissioner of the New Zealand Police said. Of the 49 killed, 41 victims were at Al Noor mosque on Deans Avenue, seven were at a mosque on Linwood Avenue and another died at Christchurch Hospital, Commissioner Mike Bush said at a news conference. The suspects were not known to law enforcement, according to the commissioner as well. In total, four people - three men and one woman have been taken into custody and the country's national security threat level has been raised from low to high. One of the shooting suspects live-streamed one of the attacks.

Air Canada, WestJet scramble to change schedules after grounding of MAX 8s

Air Canada says it will waive cancellation charges and rebooking fees for MAX 8 flights within three weeks of the original travel date after the Boeing series of jets were grounded by Canada and dozens of other countries. Earlier this week, Transportation Minister Marc Garneau said the decision was made after a review of the available evidence in the wake of the Ethiopian Airlines disaster Sunday. Air Canada has 24 MAX 8s in their fleet, while WestJet has 13. Both airlines have been scrambling to rebook passengers on alternate planes and say travellers will not be compensated for accommodation if they end up having to fly on a different date.
