Winter storm watch in effect for:

• City of Toronto

Winter storm expected late Wednesday into Thursday.

Hazards:
Snow and ice pellets, at times heavy.
Reduced visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow.
Risk of freezing rain.

Timing:
Late Wednesday into Thursday.

Discussion:
A Colorado low is expected to bring a wintry mix of snow and ice pellets to much of southern Ontario. Precipitation may fall heavily at times leading to hazardous winter travel conditions. Precipitation may also mix with freezing rain in some areas. There remains some uncertainty for the exact location, timing, and accumulations of snow and ice pellets.

Warnings may be issued as the event draws nearer.
Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight. Winter weather travel advisory in effect for tonight.

Hazards:
Snow heavy at times with total accumulations of 5 to 10 cm.
Peak snowfall rates of 2 to 4 centimetres per hour, particularly during the evening commute.
Reduced visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow and slippery surfaces due to accumulating snow.
Strong easterly winds gusting up to 60 km/h tonight followed by strong westerly winds gusting up to 60 km/h Tuesday.

Timing:
Beginning late this afternoon or early this evening and ending by early Tuesday morning.

Discussion:
Snow, heavy at times, may become mixed with ice pellets late this evening before tapering to light snow, drizzle or freezing drizzle by early Tuesday morning.
Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.

Good morning fellow Canucks!

I believe we will be getting a dusting of snow sometime today. It is the appetizer before the real storm we are supposed to get on Friday.
March comes in like a lion.

Oh one more thing, if the sky clears tonight, check out the conjunction of Jupiter and Venus. Venus will be the brighter of the two, but they will be a 1/2° apart. Of course, they will still be out there for a few more days, but they won't be as close together.
