Didn't get a drop of rain in Brantford last night.

Yeah it went east of you over Ancaster and Hamilton. Being a bit of a weather geek, I watched it build on the weather radar. The last time I saw a storm grow that fast on radar was when the tornado struck Barrie in 1985.

I almost forgot - when I was driving early this morning, there were several stop lights out of service due to the storm. I saw a few people treat the intersections as 4 way stops and many more just rolling right through without hardly even slowing down! Grrrrrrr ....

They just said on the news that last night's storm generated over 80,000 lightning strikes. It was some light show that's for sure.

We tried the dryer sheet trick on our dog last night when the storm was approaching. It had no effect whatsoever. She quivered and shivered for half an hour. Can't say I blame her, that was one of the wildest storms I've seen in this part of the world. We came close to heading for the basement for shelter when the winds started to make the siding on the house vibrate and buzz like an angry hornet.

I did the dryer sheet trick tonight too. Austin was fine for the first low rumblers BUT THEN when the house start to shake, he FREAKED!! This was the longest storm yet. He hid in the bathroom this time. It has been a rough few weeks for him. I hope things settle down soon.

Squeegee attack victim's nightmare 13

NEWMARKET — - NEWMARKET — Parting his blood-soaked hair Wednesday, Rob Townsend exposed the 20 staples he needed to close the a nasty gash he suffered during a frightening attack by a squeegee kid in downtown Toronto.
With talk of a beggar ban swirling among politicians at Queen’s Park and City Hall, the 43-year-old was struggling to come to grips with the nightmare he endured on Monday afternoon.
“I’m all for it!” Townsend said of outlawing squeegee kids and panhandlers from Toronto’s streets.
The Newmarket man said the reason he decided to go public with his tale is because he wants the politicians to know of the very real dangers motorists face as they drive through the city.
Townsend was stopped at a red light at Queen St. W. and Spadina Ave. when a man with a squeegee allegedly began washing his windshield without his permission.
“I asked him politely to stop, twice,” he explained. “He told me to go f--- myself and he said, ‘You people are all the same.’”
Townsend said he told the beggar to get away from his car. That’s when things turned ugly.
He claimed the man swung his squeegee, spraying him in the face with dirty water through his vehicle’s partially opened window.
Townsend alleged he tried to exit his car to confront the squeegee kid, but the man repeatedly “hip-checked” his car door to prevent him from getting out.
He finally managed to force his car door open.
“I was only part way out and this guy started wailing on me, hitting me in the neck and back with his squeegee,” Townsend alleged.
When he finally was able to fully exit his car, Townsend said he looked up and saw the man swinging his squeegee full force at his head.
“I deked out the first one and managed to punch him once, but then he hit me several times on top of my head,” Townsend alleged, adding doctors suspect he was hit with the sharp edge of the squeegee.
By the time the confrontation ended, Townsend was a bloody mess.
Jason Ortiz, 23, faces a charge of assault with a weapon in connection with the incident.
He remains in custody awaiting a court appearance at Old City Hall Friday, according to Toronto Police.



I guess a lot of you have heard about this by now, but geez was it really worth it???? That guy started cleaning the other guys windshield without permission and then goes nuts on him because he asks him to stop? I don't know how many of you have been in this situation, but they really shouldn't come up to a car and start cleaning the windshield expecting money unless the driver says go ahead!!!! Really some of these guys can be somewhat intimidating so it's hard to get away......

I don't know how many times I have prayed for the light to stay green so I can go straight through. When I am at a red light I don't make eye contact and double check that the doors are locked. They really can be very scary.
