Hi all, just finally catching up from yesterday afternoon.
After work I went to renew my licence, my plate sticker and my health card. I was amazed at how quickly I got in and out of the Service Canada office. Not one person in line when I arrived. When I left, there were 6 people in line. That was very lucky!
My Elf name is Tootsie Bed-Head. When I tried again using my full first name instead of the abbreviated one, along with my maiden name, I got Puddin Spirit-Fingers.
Okay back to work. Still feeling crummy so I stayed home, luckily I brought my laptop and lots of work yesterday to keep me busy today.
Good rainy morning.
Very busy at work.
I wanted to say hey...
And have yourself a good day!
I'm off to a meeting.
Enjoy the rest of the day.
Garbage workers raked it in to the tune of about $443Gs on Remembrance Day!
Since Remembrance Day is considered a stat holiday for city employees if it lands on a week-day, the garbage guys and gals took home triple their regular rate of pay for a 10-hour shift.
Earning $81-an-hour that day, workers each pocketed $810 - or about $443,000 in total to carry out "regular" collection. A source inside City Hall says it is a rare collection day that the city's garbage workers are actually on the job for the full 10 hours - usually they're done within eight hours, but are paid for th eenitre shift anyway. This provision in the CUPE 416 contract is but one example of the gravy that is making the battle of trying to balance the city's operating budget harder and harder each year!
Every single stat holiday is the same. Triple time is paid to CUPE 416 workers for a full 10-hour shift, even when workers regularly finish after eight hours.!!!
Pretty good Hourly rate ($81.00) and they even get paid for a couple of hours they don't work!!!
Just signing along, then BAM, it hits me! CALL NOW!!!
anne wins the trip.
Anne just won - I didn't even know we should call!!!!
