the grey box on my house has 1 nut on the right hand side in the middle & once you remove it the cover opens & there is a connection that looks like a phone jack that you unclip & clip the jack end of your phone in it. if you get a dial tone, then the line on the outside is good & there's supposedly something wrong with the connection inside the house, if there's still no dial tone, then bell has a problem outside somewhere. also, if you have more than 1 phone it's a good idea to check the phone too, in case the problem is the phone itself.

hmmm.. No dial tone on the home phone...The bell website directs you to test out the line at the network interface device, otherwise known as the little grey box attached to the house...
Of course, I can't get the damn thing open. I don't want to force the issue, and have them tell me that I buggered something up myself.
