Good morning, everyone.
Lily dog is refusing to leave her bed so she can avoid going out in the rain. Maybe once I start baking, she'll come begging to lick the bowl.
Lots of baking & furniture rearranging (downstairs for the condo party this weekend). I'm sorta looking forward to a quiet January....well, maybe not.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Holy poop!!
Anyone for a trip to Dubai ...............
The Poop Trucks of Dubai
Apparently Dubai doesn't have a sewage system for all those big new buildings. They must haul it all away. Each truck holds 10,000 gallons.
Look at the number of tank trucks -- miles of them and not one moving.
All waiting to dump their load. They wait for days. That is a lot of .
Amazingly, Dubai doesn't have a sewage infrastructure to support its skyscrapers, including the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa.
Drivers said they'd been waiting in line for three days!
Unsurprising then, that many dump their loads into storm drains that lead directly to the open sea. Tourists are warned of the risk of contracting serious illnesses like typhoid and hepatitis if swimming on Dubai beaches.

Incredible? Hard to believe? Absolutely true. Dubai is a house of cards, built rapidly without regard for things like sewage, public transit, transportation planning or environmental footprint. The only thing that didn't look right about that video was the timing, but I checked on YouTube and it was orginally uploaded almost three years ago. Let me explain;
Those trucks pick up their loads (of loads) from buildings across Dubai, then head to the treatment plant. The plant is modern enough, there is no smell, but it is woefully undersized. As the video starts, before it is blocked by the first truck you can see a couple of 4-storey buildings in the distance. That is the location of the fire training centre, so I am quite familiar with what I call "The Parade". I joke with my partner about how you can measure the local economy by the length of the parade. That video would have been just about at the height of the boom, things fell apart a few months later and crashed in November 2009. Since then, the parade has been maybe a few dozen trucks along the highway before the entrance to the treatment plant.
The poor buggers driving the trucks are paid by the load, so imagine lining up like that for days at a time to make a few bucks to send home to Pakistan or Bangla Desh. You don't think the locals would do that work, do you? The drivers get fed up, turn around in the middle of the night and offload into a ditch or storm drain. Huge penalties if they get caught, but in the meantime it all ends up on Jumeirah Beach.

I am also passing on a MicheleM update.
- She is doing well & getting there a little bit more every day. It's looking like her house may be sold, so that will be one less thing for her to be concerned about.
Michele will be back one of these days as she misses us all & would like me to say hello on her behalf.
xx

morning Q sters,
HAPPY WET FRIDAY JR!
going to try & get this finished before the power goes out again.
yes, HG, Q was talking about our Karl & the party they had at his work. i was laughing at Ryan for the comments he was making about Karl & his wife having 7 rodents, 3 boys & 4 girls, his wife homeschooling them & she's a marathon runner. he was tired out with her just talking about it. Derringer asked if she was running on 72 hour days. obviously, she's a very organized person & can multi-task with her eyes closed. Congrats to Karl & your wife.NASCAR SEASON is complete for 2021.
Kyle Larson wins his 1st Nascar Championship.

everything else is just a game
